hi there i am looking for some advice regarding these new compensation rules to see if i am able to claim anything.
basically our flight took off on time then birds flew into the engine and had to land back at reus airport. we then waited in the airport for 7 hours to find out the plane could not be fixed and had to wait for parts.
we got put up in a hotel at 9pm and got picked up at 4am to head to the airport. the crew and pilot didnt arrive till 9am where they had to test the plance. we then had to wait a further 8/9 hours in the airport till we boarded and flew home.
we where only given a donut and bottle of water
any advice would be great

The advice is - read the stickies at top, read the faq, read the thread(s) relevant to your airline.
When you have done that you will know what to do.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

If it was your plane that had the bird strike, I very much doubt you will succeed in claiming the 250 Euros pp compensation but it does seem they failed to take reasonable care of you. If you bought food and drink during the delay, claim for your expenses, you surely didn't go 24 hours on a donut did you?0
