peugeot 107 problem
first things first - i have a 08 peugeot 107, done just over 55,000. Had full service and MOT completed in May this year. Had a full clutch replaced last year, new set of tyres, brake pads and discs etc
Problem started a few months ago but it was very intermittent but over the past few weeks it has started happening alot more. Basically when I put the key in the ignition and turn it, nothing happens. Or rather there is a slight wirring sound? the radio will come on if i switch it to first position, warning lights etc all come on and slowly disappear. Past few days it has taken maybe 5 attempts at full switch of the ignition to get the engine to come to life? Any ideas what this could be?
(dont want to go straight to a garage incase they try to rip me off)

Sounds like a knackered battery to me.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

hehe talking knackered batteries, I saw two cars this week sitting on the side of the road getting jump started. If it's bad right now, God help them when it gets really cold.0 -
Yep, 5 years old could be new battery time. Worth getting it checked now before the cold weather sets in. Find your local Bosch centre and they will check it for you.
IIRC these ate fitted with a battery with a health indicator. Look for the clear plastic circular window on top of the battery. If it is green, all OK. If not the battery may need replacing.0 -
hmm.. good thread. I am going to go and check the age of my car batteries. The battery is a halfords branded one and it looks new.
edit: batteries aren't dated it seems. hmm... it looks very clean cosmetically so it could have been fitted recently and I didn't have any reliablility issues last year so it probably has 1-2 more years.0 -

Only the C1 came in a diesel, the 107 was petrol only in the UK.0 -

Aygo was also launched with a diesel, it was soon withdrawn.0
