Whilst not being an expert in these matters, it is my understanding that a search should cover planning applications relevant to the property.

The key word being "relevant", which, in my experience would mean an application which, when made, would require notice to the property owner.

Perhaps someone who has stated that the correct view is that only planning applications relating to the actual land on which the property stands apply, could enlighten me as to why I am wrong, and what experience they have in these matters? :cool:

I think some people on here are being unnecessarily harsh. The noise will not be just a couple of hours on Sunday. It is likely to be 10-2 Sunday depending on the size of the club, whether they have Junior, Colt and ladies teams etc. If there is only one pitch then expect the time to be extended. Then there are the training sessions which will be weekday evenings. Add in noise from the clubhouse, the occasional ball in the begonias and you have a nuisance. But not a bad one.

If I were you I'd chalk it down to experience and be relieved it wasn't a go-carting track.

It will be mainly Saturday not Sunday. Only junior sides play on a Sunday but does very much depend on the size of the club which a quick google should tell you.

At our club the senior sides play on Saturday so usually 2 matches.
The juniors, colts, girls and ladies all play on Sunday. Some Sundays can be bedlam and there's also car parking to think about.
Having said that I would love to live so close to a rugby pitch and be able to watch from the window.

yes this is true Juniors play on a Sunday but they practice on a Saturday morning and in some cases one evening during the week

our club ranges from under 7's , then going up in ages right through to adults , and the pitch is used most nights and during the day by some schools , also the ground and facility's are used by a local archery club for outdoor shoots once a week during the summer, we are also looking to other activity's to maximise the income of the club , so potentially it could be in use most days and evenings throughout the year ,

OP the only way to find out is ask the council, they are the ones who decide how often and for what the club can be used but in most cases providing they meet the correct safety checks they tend to say yes to most anything, but if its close to residential , they have stricter rules


as another poster said , I would love to live so close to a rugby ground , I would make a secret gate out my garden :rotfl:
and I would be very popular with my 8 year old grandson

OP poster I do understand, not everyone wants sports fields at the back of their homes , you have every right to be annoyed,
and do agree with the points you have raised , it seems someone somewhere didn't do right and I would feel the same as you had it been me.
