I found it from Switch the following:
http://store.virginmedia.com/bundles/specials/affiliate/duals/30mb-uswitch.html?buspart=USSDRF_%20USWI_AFF_8mon
Superfast fibre optic BB up to 30MB + Call minimum contract 18 month
£4 a month for 8 month then £14.50 for the rest of 10 month.
So work it out = £177 for 18 month or £9.83 a month for the Broadband
Line rental is £14.99 a month but if you pay in advance for one year it will only be £120. so It will be £180 for 18 month
Altogether BB + Line rental = 177 + 180 = £357 for 18 month or £19.88
I have done my online and I have not found any better deal then this ?
Could people have a look on it and comment what I have been missing a I am planning to make decision early next week.
Thank you for your advice

The only supplier of 30Mb cable fibre is VM.
Do you need 30Mb? If not consider this:
I'm moving from VM cable to TT, 12Mb (speed will vary by area) and phone works out less than £10 a month after discounts (line rental in advance, 1/2 price BB for a year, Quidco). Goes upto £17 a month second year without discounts, but there maybe a deal to be done then.0 -

There isn't a 12mb fibre, he would be talking about the standard adsl.
also, the fibre services they offer also go via the copper to your house, as its only fibre to the cabinet.
virgin are the only ones that dont use your phone line for broadband, they are fibre to the cabinet then coax to the house.
if you go with virgin, then you dont need a landline for it, you can get the broadband on its own if you have no need for a landline0 -

Yes ADSL+.
You can get VM BB only but it works out dearer without the discount the OP's link shows.0 -

unless of course you can get a deal on broadband only, which is also possible.
althou the better deals are usually with multiple services0 -
We are moving house and are with VM for BB and TV (M) and BT for phone services unlimited anytime which is just about to increase its charges (12 mth Line Saver Rental). Because BT threatens £130 connection charge for the move to a disconnected BT line to reconnect, I have asked Talk Talk for a deal. They appear much cheaper for BB and phone deal but their BB is only £2.50 per month for 16mb download against my £25 per month VM for up to 40mb download speed. He just checked the line at the new address and the speed is between 5.9 and 12.9 which is pretty poor compared to my 37.6mb download speed with Virgin. I don't want to move the TV package from VM but have been threatened with higher mthly costs with Virgin to drop the BB package off it.
I feel the drop in speed is excessive with TT but they offered a Fibre Boost for £10 extra making a saving still of £12.50 mth against VM on the special offer for 6 months, plus a phone connection charge of £15 for the unlimited anytime package of £15.40 per month (12 mths in advance) and £5.50 per month call charge (from 1/10/13).
Anyone moved from VM to Talk Talk who can offer an opinion on their internet services as I use mine all day (retired) and I have read on this forum some bad reports on Talk Talk ?0 -
Why do you think you need 40Mbps BB? What sort of things are you using it for.
In general I'd say it should be cheaper to not mix cable and phone - if it doesn't work out that way I think you've been speaking to the wrong department at VM - make sure you chose "thinking of leaving" and speak to retentions.
From a cost pov freesat and freeview are cost free alternatives to cable TV but obviously won't give all the same channels.0 -

Good advice. I found out when looking on line on VM that they are not in the street I am moving to so it is a toss up between the others. I only said I wanted 40Gb download because they said the speed in the street I am moving to was between 5.9 and 12.9 and that seemed very slow to me remembering back to when I was only getting about 4Gb and as I am on the internet most of the day I wanted something a bit quicker. VM offered me the higher speed free so I grabbed it obviously at the time. I use the net for shopping, occasional iPlayer downloads (about 1 hr per week) and the usual emailing etc. I never download music, movies or play games.
Would I be happy with a lower download speed then ? Both Sky and Talk Talk said I would only have to pay £15 to reconnect the BT line but Sky package works out to about the same as VM for the equivalent package I am on with VM.0 -
I have 60Mbps cable at home but most of the summer I'm away in a holiday caravan on 3G which tops out at 3-4Mbps and apart from downloading stuff there's not that much noticeable difference.
I have had paid TV in the past but I'm now on freeview in the van and freesat at home - both mean I only have about 50 channels full of garbage to decide aren't worth watching rather than the 200 we had on Sky which weren't worth watching.
Probably if you want paid TV then Sky is your better option. Both Sky and TalkTalk have reputations for poor CS but so do most companies including VM.0 -

I tend to agree on the quality of TV programmes whether paid or unpaid, repeats and adverts and that forms approx. 95% of TV programmes. As we are not Sport followers and are not that interested in the quality of films put out today apart from one or two, I think paid TV represents poor value and would get rid of it tomorrow, were it not for hubby who loves to watch the old Heartbeat and Last of the Summer Wine :rotfl:Even iPlayer are starting to charge now for any new programme put on TV so that is going the same way for me as a big "no, no". The pressure on income is so great for us pensioners that any extra few pounds is out of the question.
To be honest we are seriously considering getting rid of paid TV but I like a fast broadband as we use it for shopping which saves us money and for communication through emails and surfing the net, I wouldn't want to go back to 3mbhp download which is what I had before we upgraded to Virgin's faster broadband but at a cost of £25 per month.
What is an acceptable speed do you think for basic stuff so that you are not waiting up to 30 secs to download a web site ?0
