Why don't you, or your wife, read your own meter, and give the caller the readings?

Because the reader wants to see the meter, not just take the readings.

One of my neighbours has a Rottie but he's soft as a brush.

I sincerely hope they don't ring me up to find out why I've switched, whoever unfortuanate is on the other end is gonna need years of councelling.

Why not write a letter to the CEO, or do what really seems to get a reaction these days - express your dissatisfaction on social media.

Someone will call you from npower, and they'll be someone on barely more than minimum wage who hasn't even had the choice to ring you (these calls are generated through a computerised dialler). You really want to ensure they 'need years of councelling [sic]'?

We have done it, time and time again, called them in by phone, stuck the little card in the window and got a thank you note, and they have been ignored by Npower every single time.

The last time we have had a bill with a confirmed reading on it was mid-2011, every one since then has been estimated despite us continually giving them the correct values, them saying they will send a revised bill and it never happens.

It just so happens the estimates are pretty close to the actual readings so I haven't persued it but their computer system is majorly screwed and the don't seem able to fix it.

I'll be glad to get rid.

  • One of NPowers readers refused to come in to read the electricity meter as we had large dogs in the house. I had to shout the readings out the door to him. Can nobody lend you a bulldog or a mastif OP? Luckily our gas meter is in one of those box things in the front garden.
Having just recieved yet another dog bite ( from a mere Lhasa Apso ) last week, I dont find your attitude funny. I would love to see the UK act properly with people keeping nasty animals in their houses like they do in Germany, that is , any bites from their animals then THEIR house insurance has to pay for my hospital visit , lost time and any time off work. One day it will happen and all you irresponsible owners will be made to pay

You can actually take action against the home owner, as they are not keeping control of the animal
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Well they could use the refused access to see you maybe hiding something, report you to the grid and they will then refer to their theft of gas unit who can turn up without even telling you in advance.

I believe npower use meter plus for their reads, all in uniform and vans. All they want is a read, if they have tried to gain access before if they have no appointments they have no appointments.

Pregnancy is a condition not an illness, can her mum or dad be there to hold her hand?

I will just add that "The Grid" have no real interest in theft of gas as it isnt their gas that may or may not be being nicked. Their only concern is theft of gas from shipperless sites (i.e no record of meter) or theft of gas where there is a danger to the public.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

At no point did I say any of my dogs were nasty they have never bitten or even barked at anyone and I would appreciate if you did not insult them or me with your unfounded over emotional lies.
You are wrong about Germany as well by the way, only if the home owner is responsible or neglectful are they liable, and they probably would be here as well if they had a civil suit brought against them, my dogs are covered for 3rd party on their insurance should an incident happen that they or I could be apportioned blame for.

As for you being bitten they say nippy or aggressive dogs do spot fear, my uncle was a postie for over 40 years and never got bitten once, maybe you are subconsciously telling the dogs you are “prey” or an “underdog”, to be honest if it kept happening to me I would be looking for a different line of work.

  • Update!

Well, Npower finally did their meter check last week, almost a month after we switched to another company. I explained to the guy who arrived that we weren't with Npower any more but he did it anyway, it took about 3 seconds.

I'd actually rung Npower the week before asking if they'd been given the final readings, 'not sure' was the reply, I asked if the meter check appointment had been cancelled, 'not sure, but probably' was the reply. Groan.

2 days ago we get the letter 'we're trying to do your final bill but can't because we are stupid, please bear with us' and so it goes on....
