not really. There are netbooks and laptops all of various specs including battery life and processing power, weight, cost, price, etc. Also what are you going to be using it for?
What is the problem with the tablet?0 -
Not much in the way of bargains around at the moment.0

I wonder if there might be some cheap Window8 computers in the next few weeks leading up to the release of Windows 8.1 in mid-October, but I don't know how many 10" Windows 8 laptops are around anyway.NiftyDigits wrote: »Not much in the way of bargains around at the moment.0 -
I had a Samsung N150p (£200) netbook, mostly great but it would struggle with webpages where there was alot going on. (would freeze)0

The problem with 10" laptop is that it is usually a specialist market and you often pay premium £ for something average, unless you go for a webbook.
14" are usually cheaper offering an ok spec.

I know two people with that particular model who complained of a snail like performance.
On testing one of them with a 2GB RAM module, indeed my old Aspire ZG5 was speedier.
Will investigate when I have the machine in my hands again.0 -
My friends wife has a 12" on which she runs autocad. It is slim and light and if my memory is correct cost around £1300. I gave him weird look when he told me how much it was.
It is quite nippy, designed with businesses and portability in mind, so commands massive £0 -
You might get a chromebook or a netbook for around that price, or possibly something refurbished/2nd hand.
What is it about the tablet that you don't like? Would it be worth considering buying a keyboard, to make it a bit more like a laptop?
Something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leather-Keyboard-Feature-Protection-Tablet/dp/B004P32CR2/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1379575201&sr=1-2&keywords=tablet+keyboard0 -
Sorry I haven been back.
It really is just for taking away on holiday and reading books, checking emails, coming on here and facebook.
I just don't seem to be able to take in the technology of it all. Although I am far from stupid. There is no one around to teach me, I prefer to get on with it and learn (which I am finding difficult) or be actually shown. If you see what I mean.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

My heart goes out to you, what a damned shame. I would show you if I could.
You have all you need with your tablet to do what you want to be doing, without spending more money on an expensive laptop.
Please don't take offence, but maybe these links will help a bit.

An ebook download http://it-ebooks.info/book/2127/ which you can download on to your computer and read from there.
Some books on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_27?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=android%20tablets%20for%20dummies&sprefix=android+tablets+for+dummies%2Caps%2C252
As in my earlier post, perhaps a cover with keyboard might help, if you find typing on a tablet a pain. The link I gave was for a 10", but if your tablet is smaller, there's a variety of sizes on Amazon, and of course elsewhere, and they don't cost too much.0
