Of course we don't have to make life too easy for them or simply inundate their inbox. We could always complicate matters by referring to members such as VC5 and P4rking3y3 and individuals such as P4tr1ck Tr0y and 51m0n R3n5haw-5m1th. Transposing figures for letters is enough - at present - to subvert Google Alerts. Google have already worked around the insertion of asterisks, spaces and underscores but numbers currently continue to confuse.

Then again we could simply refer to companies by using an anagram creator. I wonder who could have these alter egos?

As mentioned ppp the BPA has set up Google alerts.

So when ever a members name is mentioned it sends an alert

I use google alerts myself, as I am able to keep an eye on my competitors and new developments.

As stated by another pepipoo member, doing long quotes of BPA members is a waste of time and forum data storage.

The reason for this is that

1. Google alerts are 100% free
2. Most users set them for a daily digest, thus they get ONE e-mail a day giving a paragraph for every entry found and within this the link, the subject and the first dozen or so words.
3. It is a very quick operation for the user to scan the e-mail digest and only look at entries of interest, with the rest being discarded.

Now if the BPA set up pay-per-click, that would really be something for us all to pile into - but even then, if they had sense they would set a financial limit.

Considering this thread essentially died almost 2 months ago, it was to all intents and purposes "locked" (as in "forgotten about") until YOU resurfaced it. :T

If this is the case why did a PPC complain to MSE about some of us having their name in our signatures ? Given how easy you make it sound, and that many PPCs claim we have no affect on their business, why complain ?
