Ludicrous. Yes I would want a head on my beer, it's supposed to be there!
Every chippy I've ever been to you get absolutely loads anyway, particularly if they are wrapped up. And why would asking for a sausage get you additional chips?
And why do some people think they are entitled to use a voucher on anything, with no terms or conditions? There's money saving and there's just being awkward/tight!0 -

Whenever I go to a chippie, I always ask for a half portion of chips, and nine times out of ten, I get told that they don't do half portions.
The staff are generally more than happy once I explain that I only want a smallish portion, but will be paying the price for a full serving.
I don't see the point in getting a huge bag of chips, only for half of them to end up in the rubbish bin. (or recycling bin if I'm taking them home).0 -

My local chippy is like this, a small portion feeds 4 of us  On the odd occasion I've nipped in for myself I've also said it's just for me can I only have a few please. I feel really guilty throwing them in the bin and there is only so much I can feed to the dog without guilt

+1
A flat beer, filled to the miniscus, with no head doesn't appeal.
Most of the aroma of the beer is in the head

In our local chippy if you ask for cod and chips, you get the tiniest portion of chips (on top of the fish). If you ask for them to be separate, you get fish in one and a full portion of chips in the other. Both cost the same.0 -
Well I can't comment then, as I say I've been to loads of chippies and I have never received anything less than a massive portion. Had them in loads of areas too, maybe you live the other end of the country to me or something.0

ilive in the north east and you only get small portions here Every month they get smaller and smaller. they even put them on a tray in some places or a cone.
so if they charged 1.70 and i only gave them 1.65 they should accept that as they are giving me a reduced portion.
Anyway I dont go to chippies anymore the fats really bad for you as its repeatedly cooked for many years and is a highly toxic trans fat, that stick to your arteries.“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

No, if it is £1.70 per portion then that is what you would pay.. They could reduce it to a handful of chips for the same price but they could still charge you the same price. However, you obviously have the choice to go elsewhere. (BTW, whenever I go to my local chippy in my hometown in the north east the portions are massive.. much bigger than I get locally in the south west)Anyway I dont go to chippies anymore the fats really bad for you as its repeatedly cooked for many years and is a highly toxic trans fat, that stick to your arteries.
I too would avoid that chippy.. It sounds like it breaches health and safety laws. The fat should be changed very regularly.0
