Unhappy holiday maker

Hi, need a bit of advice. In feb this year me and my partner booked to go to Maldives for 1 week all inc in a water bungalow at a cost of £3500, we go in 8 weeks and have worked all year to do this as its for my 40th birthday. We have reviewed everything and know all there is to know about the island. Then on Monday while looking at the Thomson website, it now says the pool is out if action from 5/11-20/11 for maintainance. This will affect us fir our first 3 days there. We have not been informed and are not happy about this. I emailed the island who did offer to put us on another island for the first 3 days then back into our island for the final 4 days, I told them this was not acceptable as we don't want to be repacking and moving half way through our stay. We then emailed the store where we booked and thomsons as well, they came back with the offer of moving us on to the other island for the whole stay. This is not an option as the said island had poor reviews compared to ours and it feels like a huge downgrade. Really don't know if we have any rights etc, its all paid in full and we go in 8 weeks. This holiday of a lifetime is starting to upset me. They did say they would ring me back today but its now 4:30pm and still no call. I rang and advised as to receiving no call only to be told that they are waiting for a call to sort it out, really not happy, can Anyone advise please x

Call them tomorrow if you don't hear today, you have to bear in mind the time zone differences, it's 8.45pm there now if your travel agent has to speak to someone there.
It's a shame and unlucky that the pool is out of action while you are there but see what they can come up with and maybe they can offer you some compensation.
It's a lot of money to spend on a week's holiday but you may still have an amazing time despite all the problems you've had so far.
Be patient, it'll sort itself out.0 -
Giving only 10 mins before bumping is a bit impatient
but ...........
So you don't want to move for some of the days and you don't want to move for all of the days?
What is it you want them to do?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Don't worry about it- you won't be spending a lot of time in the pool!
I went to the Maldives last year, it was paradise! I think we used the pool maybe 3 times in the evening, but the rest of the time we were swimming with the fishes! Much more interesting!
Don't let it ruin your holiday- it's really not worth it! Maybe just enquire about vouchers for meals or non all inclusive drinks (all I will say is that I found the house wine revolting!) :rotfl:
Chill- you will have a fantastic time!:T0 -
Spent two weeks in the maldives and never got in to the pool, the ocean is likely to be all you needYes Your Dukeiness0

Thanks for replies, the island they want to send us to for part or all of our stay is a downgrade from the one we have booked to go on. But we shouldn't have to be moved. This is an error on their part and we should have been told. I will be in the sea some of the time but I'm not a confident swimmer so enjoy pool time. Don't expect to pay that much for a holiday to find out that there will be no pool for half the stay and the fact that anyone who books now will know about it. Feel like we got a bum deal for booking in advance0

Are you sure that there is only one pool? What island is it?:T0

You still haven't said what it is you want them to do to remedy the situationChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Yes only 1 pool, it's chaaya island. As for remedying the situation, that's for them to sort, I shouldn't be the one finding a resolution to this0

But they have offered you 2 solutions, and you have said not good enough. You do really need to suggest an alternative you are happy with, you cant expect them to be mind readers.:T0
