  • There is a big patio area in the middle of the garden where there was once a lawn. They could lift that up i suppose but there is still big shurbs etc around it. Already had the garden cleared and tidy up of overgrown plants and weeds etc but it is still full.

But what I was wanting to know if when the workmen turn up they will walk away. Due to the huge shurbs in the garden leaving no where to dig a clear trench up the garden. :D

They will have seen it all before, they do it everyday. However I would make sure you are there the day in question, more care may then be taken of the garden you value but they may not.;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • They should put it back how it was, but it is never the same.

I would rather them demolish my borders than cut straight through the centre of the lawn. They will put the lawn back, but its never the same. Its never as smooth and getting them back to repair can a bit of a trawl.

However, the borders can be smoothed out, flowers can be replanted and next spring you wont notice the difference.

I am wondering how this turned out?
Did it go smoothly and did they leave your garden in a good a state as hoped?
Are you enjoying having gas over previous fuel?

Best advice in above thread was from 'lemontart':
'The best people to ask is Northern Gas Networks'
They now have extended hours on phone line for new connections (& alterations): 0191 525 2600
They have an email address gasconnections@northerngasnetworks.co.uk that they should response to queries on, you could even email them photos showing where the proposed gas Service route (as on Map supplied) goes and if you have alternative route although it would need to be straight direct line between existing gas Main and proposed meterbox / entry position, and no harm asking explicitly that your message/photos be passed on to planners & team doing work.
Much can be sorted out on the day, but no harm querying with them before hand. If you really have big concerns you could always ask if they could try send someone round before hand, it might be that one of there field officers or surveyor will be in area anyway so can swing by.
But as you found out they tend to do many quotes as desktop exercise from Maps, other records and information you supplied on application, unless unable to quote without a survey, as often it works out just as well sending out quote like you got and then you checking it and getting back to them if problem with route and other assumptions etc., and / or just sort it out when works done.

They came on Wednesday to lay the pipe on my property and fit the meter box and came back yesterday to connect the pipe up to the mains in the street.

They dug 3 holes on my property and used a moleing device to push the pipe through under the ground. I had it laid at the other side of the garden down the path than originally planned but it makes no difference as the gas pipe from the meter will go under the floor boards once I actually utilise the gas.

There was still some shrubs in the way but they managed. They haven't come back yet to fill the holes in and lay the flags back down again but I understand that it is a different team that do that and will be done within a few days.

Since I started this thread they sent 2 separate people round to have a look at the site prior to works starting. One last week and the other person the week before.
