Northern Gas Networks are coming soon to install a gas service pipe to my property up through my front garden.
Do they dig a trench all the way up or do they use a tunneling system?
It is just because I have a lot of huge shurbs and bushes in the road of where the pipe will go and not sure if they will be able to lay it because of them.

The best people to ask is northern gas networks as they would have sent an engineer out to survey when you had a quote and will have access to the maps showing underground services such as water. Also the location of the mains in relation to your property and where the meter is going to be located will dictate the route of your service pipe.
Tunneling is not really used, they may dig a trench or they my use as mole that goes under ground so to say.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
I think thats what the OP means by tunneling, ie, the use of a mole;)
I have no experience of new pre meter gas installations, but I did have a plastic water main run by moling under my drive. It was along the length of the drive, they had to open up a hole through the concrete about every 25ft to correct the moles direction, so you may get a few holes dug.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Yep I mean a mole, Not sure of the correct term
They sent a map with the quote showing the main pipe on the public footpath and a line drawn up my garden to show the service pipe coming to my property. I don't think they actually sent anyone round to have a look at the property for the quote.0 -

It's probably just averaged out from experience of a volume of installations, some they will lose on, most they win;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Eh?
It's not costing me anything anyway. The quote was £0.000 -

But you didn't say that. Based on what you did say above, I assumed you lived off the beaten track and did not have a mains gas supply, in which case you have to pay after a quoteI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Yes they sent me a quote like any other customer wanting a gas supply connection. My quote was for £0.00 as I had a voucher for the work to be done for free because I live in a designated area. (http://www.northerngasnetworks.co.uk/cms/590.html)0 -

Then we are clear;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

But what I was wanting to know if when the workmen turn up they will walk away. Due to the huge shurbs in the garden leaving no where to dig a clear trench up the garden.0

Is there a better route?
Can you mark it out, take a photo and send it to them explaining why - also showing where their suggested route is?0
