"Now 30 years" would be a good background selection, a bit of well known tunes without 1 specific artist.
For quirkiness you could get Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Or for true easy listening background tunes try Kings of Convienience, Sia.

How about an album compilation of 80's or 90's songs? Or the most recent 'Now' album? A friend plays those in the background when we go round, l always enjoy them but it's down to personal taste really.
Or seeing as they are all 30/40 something. How about getting hold of a copy of the early Now albums...0
