Did you book a holiday with Virgin with interconnecting rooms?
Or did you book a holiday with Virgin with just rooms?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Hi, thank you very much for replying
It was the hotel website. Turtle Beach.
Was it Virgins website that advertied the rooms as all connecting or the hotels website?
If it was the hotels website (as you suggest) and not virgins but you booked with Virgin I dont see how it was Virgins fault
I couldnt see anywhere on the Virgin website where it says all rooms connecting0 -
agree that if Virgin's site makes no mention of all rooms being interconnecting and you booked with Virgin it's probably irrelevant if the hotel's own website had misinformation on it...Virgin can't control that...if you had booked with the hotel directly, at least to me, then there would be more of a reasonable dispute.
I can see how it would be stressful and disappointing - assume you looked at the hotel's website at some point and assumed the information was valid...but I can't see how it's Virgin's fault at the end of the day.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Fert1223 and Photome have beaten me to it with their comments.
It is an unfortunate situation and I'm sure it must have made for an unpleasant experience but i also can't see that Virgin Holidays can be held to account if you were looking at another website (the hotel one) and it was there that the incorrect information was displayed.
You mentioned that the hotelier offered a three night stay as compensation - if you do not plan to return perhaps you can ask the hotel if they will consider converting to a monetary amount instead. I don't believe that they are obligated to do so but it might be worth asking. I don't see that it is Virgin's responsibility to pay you compensation.0 -
Hello Guys
Just came across this post
Just to clarify the brochure description does not state anything about the rooms being interconnecting.
We can request this at the booking stage but its simply a request
I understand the seperation of your family cause you distress however as the other guys have stated Virgin is not really at fault here
Thanks

If memory serves me correctly there was another post on here some time ago by a family booked to go to Barbados and this scenario was uncovered prior to the holiday and was resolved before they went. It may be the same hotel.
If you booked with Virgin and they did not promise or guarantee interconnecting rooms then really you have no comeback. What is on the hotel website is immaterial, it is how Virgin advertised it that matters I am afraid. It sounds horrendous though.0 -
Well this bit in the OP kinda indicates that Virgin confirmed they'd get connecting rooms
We specifically chose this holiday as the website described ALL rooms as interconnecting. We requested interconnecting rooms at the time of booking and were told "no problem all rooms are interconnecting", we also emailed the hotel ahead of our stay. Upon arrival we were given rooms 419 and 421 not only not connecting but one room apart.
If it was only a verbal confirmation and the TA are now denying it, that would be difficult to prove otherwise.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
In any case, no amount of money would give you your holiday back.
Personally, if my holiday accommodation turned out to be unacceptable and not as described then I would find another hotel and simply send my provider the bill. Nothing else is actually a solution.0 -

Compensation could be used to buy another holiday though.0 -
.....I understand the seperation of your family cause you distress however as the other guys have stated Virgin is not really at fault here....
Virgin sold a holiday to a family with infants whose requirements for interconnecting rooms were essential to enjoy their holiday. Because interconnecting rooms were not guaranteed Virgin should not have sold this holiday to a family with infants.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
