They have given a company name of:

    FINANCIAL HOME(SECURITY COMPANY)
    Mezzanine
Airport Road next to Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank
    Abu Dhabi

    not even a real address

Are you the sole supplier of these chairs? Are you the cheapest? In the UAE it can be genuinely hard to get quality - you can usually only buy extremely rubbish or European imports, very hard to get the middle ground. We've had to air freight trampolines from the UK at staggering cost before, and even imported plywood as the local quality was so dreadful it wasn't usable, you couldn't even screw it. So quality chairs, that actually might be something imported.

However, despite that, I'll bet a tenner that you're dealing with Nigeria. Why Nigeria? Over 80% of these scams can be directly traced there via the IP address of the correspondent. By all means check their IP address. Also the company name reads like a typical Nigerian scammers idea of a trustworthy name, not like a legit UAE business name. By any chance is it a free email address as opposed to a proper company email address? Usually a dead giveaway.

If you want to check the IP of the email correspondent, fell free to PM me the headers of the email, happy to look it up for you.

Actually, the address format isn't that uncommon for UAE. Streets have 3+ different naming systems, and the most confusing numbering system which nobody ever uses. People tend to give directions with reference to the main roads, shopping centres and shopping landmarks. Probably bogus for sure, but the address could be genuine with this scant format!
  • Thanks for all your comments.

I have asked for more info on the company and have this response:

"QMS Inc is set up for the sole aim Incorporation,of the Abu Dhabi Agricultural and Construction Project. This is not a floating company, rather a subsidiary unit in a LONG-TERM PROJECT tagged (ABU DHABI AGRICULTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. 2011-2016) in charge of purchases and distribution of goods and services for the project purpose"

    The plot thickens!

Sounds like typical scammer mumbo jumbo.

Also why would an agricultural project require orthopedic chairs.

What is the domain that their emails come from (don't give the whole address just the domain part).

Knowing that parts of Israel can use the same system, as well as certain parts of the former USSR (I describe my second house as 'floor, apartment, 2nd block from Ateni, road name, with the city), due to an overcomplicated numbering system, as property was originally built and numbered, then many roads extended over a number of years. Foreign investment since 2000ish has caused more of a problem in the country in question.

The road that our apartment is situated on was originally built more than 600 years ago, and some of the buildings in the city where our second property is located date back to when the city was a Roman client kingdom. Things aren't given letter (44, 44a, 46) as they are in the UK, they're allocated a new number in many cases.

You need to check the company is legit, and possibly make phone contact with them. Skype will probably be cheapest to call. The company in question may wish to contact their own police force, who may wish to speak to you.

Just tell them your bank have demanded a 28 days clearing period on this transaction and watch them disappear.

Certainly as pretty much everyone else has said starting from Skylight an overpayment scam, they could have stopped and changed the payment by now to the correct amount if they were at all genuine.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

I would most definitely not let these people be lodging any sort of funds to your account.

This is almost certainly a scam.

use google maps and look for Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Abu Dhabi it give 6 locations for this bank all in different districts i assume, which is not mentioned in the address given. also no such company listed.
