Sorry, half way through a six-month contract.

I thought the fire safety check thing was for the elderly (my grandma had one done recently), but if it's for everyone I will look into it, thanks.

If you have only 3 months security left, don't invest money unless LL will grant a new (12month at least?) tenancy.

I think it depends on the fire authority. But few if any will provide a CO detector. The fire brigade deal with fires, not poisonings.

I have seen some of it as the landlord was there redecorating not long after we moved in and I had some post to pass onto him. Looks like (ground floor at least) is identical to ours (if anything, their kitchen is slightly better - more units) in terms of d!cor. The photos the agents put up were of our house, unhelpfully, just with a slightly different description (the shower and the lawn). But then the one set of agents he used were pretty useless; they called us to reschedule our viewing - for the second time - whilst we we're signing our contract with the other agent!

I am reluctant to pay for the work for the same reason as you wouldn't, but I do want to stay here long-term. I am a bit restricted financially, but I guess I just didn't realise how much I actually prefer a shower! I may see about the contract extension route as I think that may be my best choice.

I have autism, so apologies if I come across as rude. It may just be my communication problems.

No but that doesnt stop the OP getting free fire alarms (if his council fund this) and a co detector as well. Might make it cheaper for him, given he might be shelling out for a shower and all that lol.

You can get visual detectors on amazon for less than 2 quid.
