Need covers for pipes in living and dining room

Options
Good Morning,

I have been looking for a solution on and off for a while now but can find anything. I have pipes running from the ground to the ceiling in my living room and dining room. These are your regular radiator pipes and are quite ugly and stand out.

I have looked for the plastic covers and found single pipe and double pipe covers however the issue is that my pipes bend to the side when they reach the ceiling so I essentially need a cover that is double the size of one that covers two pipes. Is there anything available off the shelf for this?

I am in the same position in living room. i hope someone can point us in the right direction.

Are your pipes running in a corner of room or in the middle of a wall?
  • mine curve at top around a curved ceiling... looking for a solution to hide the pipes is on the "todo list"

what about if you put two pipe covers next to each other, with the joining sides cut out between the two of them where the pipes bend?

In the reception room the pipes run up the side of the fireplace but in the dining room they are running up the corner.

The dining room one is slightly more problematic. We have a vertical radiator in the middle of the wall and the pipes here don't run from floor to ceiling in a straight line. They kind of come from the radiator along the bottom of the wall and then twist upwards.

Plastic covers more trouble than they are worth and visually very naff. Box them in. Paint box same colour as wall. Simples.

    Cheers

I recently boxed in some pipes using some wide skirting board, this gave me a nice rounded edge, fill in the gaps and paint it the same colour as the room.

i guess one can get some MDF strips and use three of them to create a box (two on sides and one on front!).

how did you fix it to wall and sides? did you effectively take three long lengths and created a box out of it? i.e. two sides and one front!

I'd worry that covering or boxing in the pipe unless it's carefully done will draw more attention to them than before.

We boxed ours in - two batons of wood fixed (screwed) full length floor to ceiling and then MDF cut and fixed to the batons, filled the edges and the painted to room colour.
One runs in a corner of the dining room and the other about 18" - 2' from the corner, where we have coving the top piece of boxing was painted white to follow the line of coving and the rest painted wall colour.
