Hi,
We have Virgin Tivo in the living room but want to connect a TV upstairs. Problem is a portable aerial (even a decent one) gets no signal and we have no aerial on the roof. It costs £50 installation and £11.50 a month for a second box from Virgin which I think is way too much. We have a satelite dish left from the previous owners so could connect to that via a freesat box. Any other thoughts?

Possibly link the box to two TV's using a remote control extender and use the one Tivo box with 2 remote controls....or use the dish you have with a box you can get off Ebay for next to nothing.Hi,

FreesatHD box sounds good if the satellite is cabled into the room, and everything is still in good condition. If you buy a recorder, note that you'll want 2 cables to the dish if you want to watch one channel whilst recording another. You might get away with just one in the bedroom if you've a TiVo downstairs.0

Thanks, think I'll buy a freesat box and get someone to cable it up to the dish0

If there is a dish in place the the cabling should already be there. Plug in an old Sky box (free on freegle or cheap as chips on ebay) and you will get all the Freesat From Sky channels without spending any more. Unless you want PVR functions, in which case you'll need a Freesat PVR such as a Humax. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The cabling is there but doesn't go into the room we want it in! Thanks for the tip about the Sky box on ebay. That should do the job.0

If you're going to that work, you might as well get 2 cables (shotgun cable) installed in case you ever do plan to get a recorder.0

Thanks. Will do0
