Sorry to hear your lovely Dad is so ill. Sending all positive vibes at such a very worrying time for you all.

What a good daughter you are for keeping helping LM with her phone issues. OH can't get to grips with his car SatNav, he's a total technophobe and being dyslexic doesn't help much when it comes to him reading written instructions. He's even offered to pay me (yes, actually part with some of his money:eek::eek::eek:) to sort it out and explain/demonstrate to him how to use it.

Enjoy your Christmas tree decorating:xmastree:. I live in the middle of nowhere but every house I drive past on my way to anywhere has really gone to town with their outside decorations this year, mainly Christmas lights. One of them has strewn colourful lights all over a really tall and wide garden fir tree. Looks wonderful and there must be hundreds of light bulbs on it. The whole area looks really festive but sadly we can't see any of it directly from our house:(. Needless to say our house isn't very festive, well festive at all really. Nothing new there then. At least my electricity bill won't be going up;)

Feeling quite giddy because I paid off one of my debts yesterday:dance:_party_:j. It was the smallest one, never defaulted as I was obviously always paying at least the minimum payments every month. I always thought that odd as SC worked out the payment rates for about 4 years. I phoned them once to ask if they would default but they said no and as time went on it seemed better to just get rid of it once and for all. My F&F Fighting Fund is now £620 smaller but the euphoria I feel is priceless. Doesn't take much does it?:rotfl:

At least it's sent my own grey dog packing for a while:j. I hope you can shoo yours off too:kisses3:

    Hi cbc,

Can you not just over rule your OH and stick up some Christmas lights etc? My Oh doesn't really care for Christmas but I did get him to get the deccies and tree down for me this morning so that's a job for later...

:T:T:T Well done for smashing your first f & f.. will be years before I can save up enough pennies to do the same, I am sure you will be debt free by then!

    Keep going...

I survived the evening out.. my bff picked me up and she didn't want to go either but we made it through with a cheeky pizza express on the way..... minimal time for drinking so no thick head here today which is also good as I am whizzing through my chores... Have to head out soon to collect something from my bruv and then LM is round this afternoon for more phone training......

OH is at football, and I will put the tree up later with some carols and a glass or 2/3 of wine.... will send dd some photos when done....

I managed to wrap some presents yesterday, that cleared my gloom a little and I am looking forward to moving them out the spare room to under the tree...

Tomorrow still planning on getting my last shopping done.. well that's the theory anyway...!!!!

Happy weekend everyone.... 2 more weeks of work then 10 days off.... lovely.....

We used to have Christmas lights and an artificial tree and all the trimmings decades ago, bought by me before I realised what a fun-hating curmudgeon OH was. It's not as if the purchases and effort cost him anything either. I stopped bothering after a few years, after sneering and criticising by OH that he 'hates' people who follow the crowd by unnecessary spending and feel they have to be the same as everyone else at Christmas:eek:. Strange that as he's one of the most conventional of people in other respects.

When I was really hard up (whenever wasn't I?:o) I decluttered everything that I could sell for a few pounds and sold all the Christmas decs at car boot sales. If I wanted to introduce any festivity now it would cost me:eek:. I think I'll save my pennies for my F&Fs in the New Year;).

    Monday.....:(

And I have called in sick... first time this year so I don't feel too guilty that I am having a couple of duvet days and hope to find my mojo, that's hiding somewhere.....

So I got all my Christmas cards written and delivered/posted yesterday.. job done.... I didn't go out to the shops as the weather was vile.. very similar to today's weather rain/snow combo... brrr...

Will have to take a half days leave to finish my shopping as I won't get out next weekend and its getting far to late for me now... Will sort that later in the week...

CBC I wouldn't buy any decorations now either, my 21 year old tree does the job and we don't do colour matching..!

May try and wrap the remaining presents that I have here later and pop back to bed for an afternoon snooze....

Take care out in this weather..

Good for you taking a short time off work to get well again. Please don't feel guilty, your employers will already realize what a reliable and hard-working person you are:A. I think a lot of people struggle in to work when they would be far better off for their own sake and that of colleagues if they'd stayed at home and got really well again. I hope you'll be feeling 100% again very soon so you can really enjoy your Christmas (which I know you love;):rotfl:). Here's something to keep you warm.:coffee:

My SIL used to spend a fortune on decorations every single Christmas:eek:. Probably still does but I haven't been to her house for several Christmases. Every year it was a totally new theme/colour scheme, whatever was 'in' that year. Goodness knows how much it all cost or what happened to the previous year's decorations. I recall one year everything was decked out in tartan bows. No sign of the usual green, gold and red that I associate with Christmas.

I remember how her children came home from school in their primary school years clutching wonky snowmen made out of loo roll middles and cotton wool, or things shedding poorly stuck-on glitter and she wouldn't let them hang them on the tree because it spoiled the 'look' of the room:eek:. On very rare occasions when they were allowed to go on (probably after my mother having a few words;)) SIL put them right at the back near the wall where no one could see them. The poor children usually had to put them in their own bedrooms. I always thought SIL missed the whole point of Christmas.
  • Hope you are feeling a bit perkier Puzz?

    Hump day..

Well my working week hasn't started yet so can't really call it that!!!

I do feel a little brighter so will be aiming to be back at work tomorrow.. I have to go out anyway as meeting LF for a drink at lunchtime and have no intention of cancelling...

Letter from Wescot received today confirming they are still investigating my dispute with the debt they bought.. I received the cca and had it checked and they came back UE... its a big one at just under 9K... hoping they all just agree with me so I can lose it from my debt total..!! Will wait and see what they come back with..

Have cancelled the standing order on that one and M & S who also have yet to provide me with a cca from Sept.. so keep those fingers crossed for me...

Still haven't finished the :xmastree: shopping.. very late for Puzz, but I reckon I can knock it out in a long lunch hour next week... Will feel better when its done and dusted..

Long day coming up Sunday as we need to do in laws Christmas with OH being away for the big day... will mean the whole day out the house which I hate and dd also wants to go back to her other house to sort the heating, ensure all doors and windows are locked and lights are off... very mse...:money:

Right off to drink my cuppa and then head for a nap...

Monday.. again..... but this time next week.... :rudolf::xmastree::xmassmile:xmassign::santa2: will be the big day.....

Last week never happened... Wednesday night I slept for only 4 hours so was completely knackered so didn't get to work and so wrote Friday off... Mainly because I didn't wake up till 9.15 !!!

Ho hum its now a new week and I do finally feel better although I now have dd home who has a lovely cold so watch this space... most of my team have also been struck down with illness so could be an interesting week.....!

So OH picked dd up Friday evening.. Saturday didn't achieve very much at all and yesterday we were out all day visiting OH's relatives for early Christmas as he is away on the big day and beyond.... and we went to dd's house to ensure it was all locked up etc... NO.. the last girl to leave had left the back door unlocked....

Also no gas on the meter so good old mum paid yet another £20 to the greater cause of a mildly warm house and no frozen pipes.. but then we couldn't get the boiler to work.. OH says pipes turned off and turns out its leaking.. dd contacts lead girl who already knows this.. would have been useful to have been informed as well.. anyhow's they are on to the landlady again to get it sorted along with the still broken oven that is apparently being fixed this week.. I do expect better at £2250 a month but maybe that's just me...!!

I have also paid out £7.50 for OH's suit to be dry cleaned as he has a wedding before he goes away... that also involves 2 nights away.. and £10 for him to give to his great niece and £20 on the takeaway he was paying for Saturday night but had no change.. So all in I am now £57.50 down. not a good start to the middle of the month.. I have clawed some back as OH hasn't paid for any of dd's presents so rightly deserved I feel.. Hoping to finish my Christmas shopping tomorrow, will go for a long lunch and scoot round the high street... OH and dd have finished before me.. that's a first...!

So today I am catching up with complaints etc and then will go into the office this afternoon.. dd still sleeping.. and the poor washing machine has been going constantly since Saturday.... what with dd's bedding and towels.. washed dried and back to the house yesterday.. OH's work stuff and general clearing of the floordrobe... and dd's clothes brought home as she doesn't like the mouldy machine at at the house ...

Right off to make another cuppa and then listen to some more people whinging... I am so unsympathetic...that's what 29 years in the job does to you...

Hope everyone else is ready for Christmas.. 4 more get ups then 10 days off... :j:j
