If she didn't turn up, wouldn't that suggest guilt? If she's brazen enough, she'll turn up as if nothing has happened.

Of course, if she's innocent, she'll turn up as if nothing has happened as well.

We have spent 4 days absolutely tearing the house apart looking for it with no luck.

Are you 100% sure the money was in the drawer?

I have a friend who had a cleaner a lady with just a dozen or so working for her. When they come they work in pairs. She always goes out when they are there.
She lost a wrist watch and a couple of other small pieces of jewellery. She told the lady she didn't want a particular person to come back She had to tell the person why and she sacked the woman. About 2 years after this she found all the things either down the b\ck of a drawer. I don't think she ever told the woman that she found it
Recently the 2 allocated cleaners one of them being a man. She changed to a different cleaner a woman who just cleans and no connection to any agency.

I found out that she had been bringing her 12 year old granddaughter with her and she was the one who was taking it.
    .
We had a cleaner for a while. She was very good and nothing ever went missing.

I noticed that the settings on my rowing machine were sometimes being changed.

I asked her about that and she admitted that she was bringing her 13 year old son to my house with her and he was using it. :rotfl:

I know it wasn't her as the settings were being changed for someone a lot smaller than her.

That really has a much more serious side to it than your post implies.
It totally breaks the trust between the two parties in so much as permission was neither asked for nor given.
Adjustments to a rowing machine?, you got of very lightly methinks:(
