But if inefficient boilers had any kind of impact on achievable rents, then those properties with inefficient boilers would have to be very cheap in the first place - and thats not the case. The truth is a shiny new boiler makes next to no difference in how much rent can be charged, but makes a significant difference to the tenants energy bill.
  • Thanks for the positive comments,, it usualy that people are jealous,, andy for instance as 800 plus posts that time would have been better spent sorting his own boiler problem,,, i will have very little gain as i do not intend to sell the proberty,,, so the only person to gain will be the tenant with lower bills i will have to redecorate etc so no real gain for me,, if i do sell i ten years i will still have an old boiler,,, may be thats why the government provide the service

I'm not jealous, I'm annoyed at the ridiculous situation. I as a private owner can get no help but am currently using plug in heaters, you as a private owner can get a free boiler because you rent out. It's crazy.

You'll also find that Ive not made any personal attacks or remarks about you, only the situation and don't really appreciate your comments about me. Of my 800 posts, a very large number have been worthy of people taking the time to press the "thanks" button - probably because I don't make a habit of attacking people on the forum.

What?! This has to be a serious abuse of the scheme. How can your tenant apply for a boiler to be fitted in YOUR property?!

I want a new boiler right now as I am without heating, I work 40 hours+ per week and it's going to cost me over £2,000 to have the boiler replaced.

You are a landlord, you have an income. Why should my taxes pay for a boiler to be fitted in YOUR property?

    This is nuts, absolutely nuts...

Companies are offering to help those who have an income and savings, most actually only want you to own the home and be between 21-75 Andy my circumstances are similar to yours i cant get a FREE boiler but i had mine paid for and i pay 24 a month backincluding installation ... ive only ever contacted one firm they seemed to have a 'good' name on MSE i used affordablehomewarmth.co.uk hope this helps BUD
  • Odd.... A energy rep visited my home and confirmed that I am eligible for a free boiler The engineer then came and looked at my system and muttered `if i start on this who knows what problems I will face`. .... then had a letter from the company saying they cant afford to install it.
So im going as long as I can without turning my heating on.

This is disgusting, I've just lost my job after 10 years of solid working and the only thing I qualify for is job seekers 70 a week and can't afford to by a new boiler to replace my broken one.

Because I don't have any children I get hardly anything. Should be the other way round as the world is over populated.

Just shows that the mp's are all neck high in the highly immoral buy to let.
