Hi, not sure if this is the correct place, so sorry if it is not.
I received a letter from DLA advising they where waiting for a report from my GP, however I ticked the no part of the consent form, tis means that DWP have made false claims to my GP telling them they have written consent. My GP has sent the report off.
I just wanted to ask how I go about dealing with this now, who do I report it to and how do I get the report struck from my records.
I do not have anything to hide, however I do not need my GP to tell me to take my pain killers when to take rest and feel that going to see him would be a waste of his and my time and so do not see him very often and I have been led to believe this goes against you for any claims.
Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

I cannot help with your query about the DWP and the possible false claims.
No doubt someone will come along later with advice on this.
However, I would like to comment on this:soniason123 wrote: »however I do not need my GP to tell me to take my pain killers when to take rest and feel that going to see him would be a waste of his and my time and so do not see him very often
.
If you are on prescribed medication you really should have regular checks with your GP.
I take prescribed painkillers. When I see my GP he checks how often I take them (he doesn't tell me WHEN to take them!). This helps him to see how well they are helping control the pain. It means he is able to adjust the dosage when necessary. It also gives him the chance to check for any side-effects.
Similarly, finding out how often you need to rest (again not telling you WHEN to rest) is part of the way that the GP can assess your medical condition.
Regular visits to the GP are NOT a waste of their time, or of yours.0 -
Hi, thanks very much for your comments, I would like to fill you in a little on my own circumstances.
I was a nurse and feel confident in my own knowledge (as does my GP) that if there is a prob with my meds or anything else I can judge for myself whether I need to go to my GP, my surgery has a blood pressure pod which allows me to go down without actually seeing anyone to have my BP taken and recorded on my records.
I do understand that many people do not have tis knowledge and need to see their GP regularly to make sure everything is ok and for them it would not be a waste of time, however for myself this is my mind set.
Hope this has explained a little better0 -

The problem I (and I presume many people) have with the form is that I only see my GP every 8 weeks, and that is because it is practice policy not to allow repeat prescriptions to keep going without seeing the GP every 8 weeks, so all he does is print off the scripts, sign them, and give them to me.
The DWP will learn nothing from my GP about the current state of my condition and so I beleive that you should be able to omitt that part of the form, OR complete it with the details of the medical practitioner who deals with the condition and knows the most about your history with regards to this condition, without the fear of being penalised for not providing your GP's details.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Are you aware that they will not award you DLA without some kind of confirmation from a HCP that you have the needs you describe?
If they have written to your GP without your consent, contact the DWP and ask them to notify your GP they have made a mistake and the form is not to be actioned.0 -

I do not have this problem, my GP is happy just to give me my repeat prescriptions as required, in the knowledge that if there is a problem I would go and see him. I would not imagine he would treat all patients in this way and like your doctor make most patients go see him on a regular basis.

However my problem is not the infrequency of my visits to my GP, it is the fact that the DWP have obtained a report from my GP without my consent.0 -

It has already been actioned and sent.0 -

Will it do any harm?
You can make a complaint to the JCP if you wish to. They will use the information you provide to ensure it does not happen again - reminding or retraining the person that sent the letter. Write to the address on the letter, addressing it to the centre manager.0 -

It may do, as I said I do not see my GP very often and this will show in the report that has been sent. I would rather have gone for a medical and for them to use the reports I had already sent.
And besides I do not think that is the point, I did not give permission and they got the report from my GP anyway, these are personal details and surely one of the few things left that we should have say over who sees them and who doesn't.0 -

You have the option to make a complaint, as already explained.0 -

But is there no-one outside the DWP I can complain to. I am not at all confident it will not just get swept under the carpet.0
