Help! EE Store lost my Drivers license!

I'm a bit stuck on this. I bought a EE sim only deal a few days ago and because we moved from computer to computer because they weren't working I lost track of my drivers license when signing up and she forget to hand it back too.
I got a call to come and collect it, went yesterday and they couldn't find it anymore and to come back today. I went today and they said its probably been binned but that was an assumed and to get rid of me. It was placed on the filling cabinet and its not there anymore. A really unhelpful, confused, couldn't care less bunch.
I am really concerned that one of the employees has taken it to use it for fraud considering the part of London it is.
I'm applying to have a replacement sent/it marked lost but because there is no way of expiring a drivers license, I'm worried what they could use it for?
Also, can anyone advise any steps to take?
Really appreciate any help! Thanks!

Have it cancelled, keep an eye on credit score websites, notify the police of the incident & insist on the store paying for your replacement license due to their negligence. Might also be an idea to refer them to the information commissioner for lax standards concerning personal data.
At the very least EE should be paying for your replacement & groveling fairly extensively - there's no way in hell they should have let this happen & their attitude if it's as described is wholly unprofessional!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I've had a replacement ordered, I don't think there is a way to cancel the lost/stolen license. I'll try to get them to pay, I'm contact EE customer relations to deal with this, the store are filled with complete idiots, will mention information commissioner.
It is just so frustrating talking to anyone in that store - they just couldn't care at all.
But what could I do to limit any potential fraud? It has everything including a signature on it. I will be going to the police station tomorrow. But I don't know if it's lost or stolen.0 -

There is nothing you can do apart from reporting it. Keep an eye on your credit report on Noddle for free and if anything turns up report it to the police.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

It might also be worth signing up to one of the credit reference agencies for a months free trial (but make sure that you cancel the trial before you have to pay)

or if you sign up for one of the paid services, send a copy of your receipt to the EE head office asking them to cover the cost as the loss was due to their staff.0 -
Sorry, but you share the blame - I would be very careful with any of my ID. The issue was you walked away leaving it behind. Sure they subsequently lost it (which is hardly ideal) but this is secondary to the original error.
Trying to shift it all on to them is a big stretch - be reasonable, they might be minded to assist!0 -
i would have refused to leave their shop until they found it and gave me it back0

I would agree with this IF the store hadn't called the customer to tell them they had the licence and for the customer to come and collect it.
IMO, at this point, the store accepted responsibility for the licence and should have taken better care of it.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Absolutely agree. In fact, even if the store hadn't contacted the customer they would still have a duty of care for the item. Just like if EE accidentally sent out two mobile phones to a customer, the customer wouldn't be entitled to keep them both.0 -

You don't have to be sorry. I agree in the first instance that I should not have forgotten it but alas I am human and am angry with myself for it. I have never lost any ID before because I am very careful. But we moved from computer to computer and she kept it between her and the keyboard and when it was out of my view I totally lost track. I accept that and she had it in her view and also forgot it. I haven't shifted that "blame" on to them for that.
The issue I've raised is what happened since then.
I can't imagine they would lose it so easily, just that one of the staff have taken it and thats what concerns me. But even more so that they aren't taking it seriously at all. If someone has taken it, they can feel very safe right now and to do it again.0 -
I think if I were you I'd post something on their facebook page about it. With the possibility of so many customers and potential customers seeing your post someone from EE should notice it and act on it pretty promptly.0
