  • A pal of mine "rewards herself" with a 40 minute run.
She's one of the happiest, most laid back, almsot casually DFW folk I know.
(Were I to try it, I'd be dead of a heart attack in about four minutes. And Still Not DF!) A suggestion however.

Lol! :D I bet she is - running is great for the mind (not so much for the heart if it's new to you!!!) and I am still not sure why I don't do it anymore.....

Hope everyone is having a positive start to Wednesday - heading down the slope to the weekend as of this evening! :T If you need a mindset pick me up, shout - would love to help shift your viewpoint!

I distract myself by baking (which kinda makes me also need the exercise distraction too!) and by finding cheaper recipes - so eggless cakes are my thing at the moment and these end up costing pennies to make!!

Oooohhhhh! Another baker! Yay! :j:j Baking is my treat on the weekend and I love trying new things. Please can you let me have your recipe for eggless cakes, it sounds really interesting!

I'm loving having my 100% chart on the fridge, I can't wait to cross the next box off!! :j:j

    hey wegle!!!!

We're still eating it so definitely getting our 'store cupboard's worth' from it! We even made simple buttercream icing for it - 200g (sieved) icing sugar, 100g creamed butter and a dollop of cocoa powder!!!

The recipe I found is here: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/8423/eggless-chocolate-cake.aspx and best thing is - you mix it IN the cake tin - so hardly any washing up! yippee!!!! :j And it's got such simple ingredients its like - i can make something amazing from a cupboard full of incompatible staples!!!! (not the metal staples!) :rotfl:

next one is eggless banana bread I'm going to try as got some bananas to use up!! - if it's a success I'll post it up!

    um . . . did someone mention exercise?!!!!! :D

Thanks CR! The only thing I haven't got at home is the cocoa powder, so I'll grab some of that this weekend and give this a whirl!

The irony of this thread and my diary is not lost on me - I am something of a food geek and have been known to get on my soapbox one or twice about nutrition and the dangers of eating too much junk/sugar......and yet both of my threads are now sugar monsters!!!!! Hahahahaaaa! If my best mate saw this I would never hear the end if it!!! :D. Think the universe is evening out the score for all the poor souls who have ever made the mistake of innocently asking me, 'So is cola really bad for you then.....'

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Meanwhile, having got up at 3am for a long drive (URG!!!), I can add another huuuuuge mood lifter:

Music Doesn't matter what it is as long as you love it. After 3 hours in the car and almost falling asleep, I slammed Nickelback in the CD player, turned the volume up to insane, and saw my mood rise to dizzying heights also. So many thanks to Chad for the likes of 'Something in your Mouth' and 'Burn it to the Ground'. I'm sure my sharing it with vast swathes of East London was much appreciated well before breakfast today.....:D

Haha! I'm a bit of a healthy eating nerd as well, but part of a healthy diet has to include treats. It's just making sure you don't go to excess and that you used high quality natural ingredients where possible. I'd much prefer to eat 10 custard tarts that I made at home, knowing everything that went into them, than a supposed "healthy" ready meal that I can't pronounce half of the ingredients!!

Music is an awesome mood lifter. I've been getting back into music in a big way recently, mostly thanks to this debt free journey and I am loving it. Dancing around in the kitchen with hubby whilst doing the washing up made us laugh so much the other day. It was great fun and cost nothing!! :T
  • Yes - I love music too! when the OH is playing his xbox I put in headphones and dance around the kitchen to music he wouldn't usually listen to - maybe a bit of glee here and there?!!! :)

Makes all that baking actually seem healthy with all the dancing and baking!!! And deffo agree with you wegle - i try and make everything from scratch for the same reason - at least I know what goes in it! Even down to stuff like making our own salad dressing and jam!!!

Our ultimate aim in the future is to live self-sufficiently so I'm practising all the skills before we attempt it!!

I think I need to find more hobbies!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

  • This really is a great thread guys!! :T :T

I've been struggling with my motivation at the moment and this may just be the kick up the backside I've been needing! :D That and simply embracing my sometimes disgusting stubbornness. I will get rid of this debt, even if I'm feeling down right pants about it right this very moment. So what? Life passes you by so quickly and a couple of years paying off debts now will not matter one little bit in a few years time when I have my own house and a puppy!! :j :j

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, I haven't baked anything for a few months perhaps I should dust off my apron! Here's to showing that dirty debt who's boss
    Nest Egg Savings Target: £7300/£10,000
    Wedding Savings: £2660/£8,000
    0% Credit Card Debt Jan 2017: £2064
  • yes dfby30!!! That was my thinking - it's 1 or 2 years of real hard pushing forward but after that - debt freedom and our puppy to go running in the field with your puppy!!!!

If that isn't an image to brighten an afternoon I don't know what is!

Next time someone asks me why I'm doing it i'm going to tell them 'for the puppies'!!!!! :)

    xx
