  • I, like you had a phone on its last legs (iphone 3gs) and got myself a Nexus 4 as they've reduced the price just recently. Got to say...not entirely sure why i didn't do the swap sooner, This phone is brilliant! I paid the £200 and i'm on GIff Gaff £10 a month- works out at £18 over two years.

Honestly couldn't be happier. Considering i was going to buy a new camera, this phone has a brilliant one with flash- also saves me money on buying a Garmin too- downloaded the running app and it's ace. On my iphone it would crash half way through a run and switch itself off for 10 mins!

Have to mention the Nexus 4, if you can stretch to £159 you get a sim free truly high end phone that will last you a good while. I know you wanted compact but although the Nexus is a 4.7" screen (great for web browsing) the display has small margins so the whole phone is infact only 1cm longer than the 4" screen Huawei Y300, and just 4mm wider and a lot thinner.

Thanks for the link. The 8GB version at £159 is out of stock but they still have 16GB ones at £199. Probably anticipating the imminent arrival of the Nexus 5.

I may just get one for myself.

I have been considering this but I've read that the WiFi range is quite poor. Do you have any thoughts on this? Ta.

I've got the Xperia Z and the SP...wi-fi range on each seems to be about the same, ie. no problems with either.
