I have booked Salou with Thomsons for the 25th, halfboard for me and my son under £700, prices are much cheaper there but the weather won't be as hot as the Canaries, but hoping it's abt 22 ish, am planning to do Portaventura Theme park for Halloween looks good and maybe some day trips, Barcelona and Tarragona. The prices for the Canaries are just crazy, Cyprus seems to be a bit cheaper also the Costa del Sol.0

It's that good old spike in demand putting prices up.
Whereabouts in the UK are you?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
At that time of year it's the flights that bump the cost up, and the package operators cashing in!
Go to www.skyscanner.net to search flights (select all UK airports), and then go to somewhere like www.travelrepublic.co.uk to get them to bundle it for you.
For example, if you can get to Glasgow Prestwick (do they have a different half-term week?), travelrepublic will do a weeks 3% AI in Gran Canaria (hotel is rated 8.5/10) for 2, complete with 2 x 15kg luggage and resort transfers for £635 each. Great flight times too!
There are cheaper options, but would you want 2* AI?0 -
I'm in the south so anywhere Up to Birmingham would be best
As I am a teacher I don't have much leeway with dates unfortunately! I'm going to look into flights and hotels separate
I think 4 star AI is the lowest I would chance!

We are going to Rome. 4 of us 5 nights just under a grand in total. B&B staying at crowne plaza. The futures bright the future is Ginger0

I reckon £1k is about right for a decent AI in school holsChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

I'd take a chance and book a week before departure.0

can highly recommend searching on these guys
http://www.olaholidays.com/
just booked for 11 of us all inclusive from east midlands to malllorca calla dor leaving on sunday 27th oct for 7 night inc transfers and baggage for £287 pp all atoll protected and great reviews on tripadvisor0 -
On the basis of endless complaints about Ola Holidays on this and other sites, I would give them a wide berth. The usual complaint is a change to the accommodation at the last minute and the new accommodation being nothing like the original promises made!0

It's just the dates that push the price up and there aren't many flights available to Gran Can at the minute for half term.
I would suggest looking at https://www.lastcheck.co.uk as I have been looking with them and they have Gran Can 4* AI from Gatwick on 26th for less than £100 each, they have decent ones for around £800 each which may be worth a look?
Or maybe consider another destination. The canaries are very expensive at the minute as everyone is heading there instead of Egypt for the sunshine.Lea
