Congratulations dubb. I hope all goes well. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Oh and I had a chat about the right age the other day, he said he read in The Sun (oh god...) that its better for women to have a baby after 30, which we all know is not true. I said before I'm 30 so he took that as 30, I said no, my ideal age would be 27 (its not, its more like right now but I know hes not ready yet and we're still renting), so I now feel like I've given him a 4 year countdown

No.
I don't ever want children, so I will never be ready for a baby

OH, I was absolutely ready and then had to wait almost 18 months to fall pregnant! :rotfl:
That said, you do think about how massive a life change it is and the relationship and time for you and your partner will change and adapt, but for us, having a baby only made us more of a family unit. I do miss how much time we used to spend just the two of us and the holidays we had, but I wouldn't change it for anything. Not for anything.....

I feel ready now but when we first started trying (end of 2011) I wasn't quite there... possibly why the fates decided to make me wait so long to get pregnant as I finally fell pregnant in June?! As emotionally ready as I feel for the changes we're about to face, I still feel very naive about just how much life will change.
TBH though I'm sick of people smugly telling me 'Oh, EVERYTHING changes when you have a baby. You'll never get out of the house without it taking 10 minutes minimum and you'll never get to go on decent holidays and days out blah blah blah' but how does that help? People have no idea how you *personally* will cope with your child and since I've got no idea what exactly I'm in for I'd rather just find out as it happens rather than waste my pregnancy listening to people trying to scare me!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
It was a shock to the system despite feeling ready. It's been even harder raising a child with multiple health/developmental issues.
Overall I'd say no I wasn't ready but I didn't have a crystal ball to see into the future and didn't know we'd have such a hard time as what we've had. However, I wouldn't change any of it and cannot remember what I did with myself before my son was born.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget
