SIM-only contract for a charity?
Hi there,
Some advice needed, please. I help run a small community group and we need to get two mobile phones for calls only, to landline and mobile numbers. One SIM-only contract with Vodafone and another with Orange would suit us well (we have two phone users who live in different places which have different network coverage). BUT how would we pass a credit check? We just have a simple charity bank account, no debit or credit card, and no credit history.
I've checked PAYG deals as possible alternatives, but these will work out too expensive for us, since we'll be making short calls to many different numbers.
Any ideas?

E.g. Virgin use EE signal and give you on PAYG unlimited landline calls and 120 mobile minutes for £10.
For Vodafone signal check Talkmobile and Ovivo. The latter gives you 150 minutes for free.
However, I don't know if it's possible to do top-ups without a debit card. If not, you can probably use a prepaid card for this.0 -
You could try posting in the dedicated telecoms thread in the Charities/Small Biz forum https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2103025 if you dont have any luck here.0

You have the EE (Orange) solution with Virgin PAYG
For Vodafone, Ovivo would be a close fit http://ovivomobile.com/
PayPal can be used to top up and the person who tops up will have a receipt to claim against.0 -
Many thanks all. Lots to go on now.0

Depending how many and depending how short, The Phone Co-op could be one option for your Orange-based SIM. They use EE (orange and t-mobile signals) and will definitely let you have a billed post-paid account once they've received signed paperwork from an authorised bill payer. You will receive a monthly bill (by email) in the name of the charity. They will charge £2/month but they you pay 7p per minute charged by the second with a 1.2p minimum charge. So, 100 short 20 second calls would lead to a total monthly bill of £4.30. Voicemail can be accessed for free from their website if that is any help.
Not necessarily the cheapest, but a possible contender depending on what the prioritising drivers are. Most of the "deals" on mobiles are for personal users only, and a charity one would fall into the business category usually. So, actually I should have linked to the Phone Co-op's business page for this service which is here but it's the same price (it just appears listed without the VAT on for businesses - it would still be charged).0 -
The £5 per month SIM only deal from TalkMobile (Carphone Warehouse) is a really good. I don't even think you require a credit check. It is on a rolling month contract. You can order the SIM online from Talkmobile.co.uk.
TalkMobile uses the Vodafone network. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0
