If a child finishes their gcse exams at the end of June, can they then go on holiday in July or do they carry on going to school until the school summer holidays?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

They stop going to school in May, revise at home, attend school and are then not required in school once they've done their last exam.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
i believe they officially leave school the last friday in June. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

This year my year 11 daughter had her leavers day on 21st May and then just had to go in for her GCSE exams in school. Her last exam was the middle of June.0

they are finished for the term mid June, my son sat his exams last year and it is an ideal time to have a cheap holiday as no school hol prices apply0

Our son had his last exam on June 24th but the Leavers Ball was on the 28th, so I would check that date too before booking as we almost came unstuck with that!!0

^^ This is the official line and when the leaving celebrations will be geared to, after the last Friday in June, that's it until September.
Exams can and are timetabled right up to this date, despite the majority being in May.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
My children always started their next year a week before they broke up for the summer, so if they were going back they had to attend that week.
Obviously if they had finished school they were not needed.

If they are intending to go into sixth form (or onto college) they may be required to attend school (or college) after the GCSE exams are over - not a good idea to miss those sessions
