Fence problem

Thanks so much for the ppl who have answered so far. I am really appreciated for them.
I've mentioned to the next door the surveyor they have appointed is over priced for us and she sent the whole email over to her surveyor!
I also told her there will be delay on the original time quoted and so just to managed their expectations but her respond was if our builders and surveyer are co- operated well then there should be no delay!!! So I have to point it out to her frankly that by not responding us for six weeks and want it one now has already cause us min two weeks delay!
I never seen ppl who are so selfish in my life!
We didn't know we could have appointed a surveyor on their behave and our builders told us if we give enough notice we don't need one. also the next door of my sis also is having their rear extension done and they never serve a notice to my sis. So it seems to me it is optional. Now I regret it! Should have done more research on this.
Yes you live and learn, but to be honest decent neighbours would not react in the way they have, luckily most of us, as neighbours, put a little more effort than they have into maintaining decent inter neighbourly relations.
Big thanks to Keystone methinks :T:T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Yes my husband is already finding the stress they gave us unbearable. On the letter their surveyer gave us today he put "I wait a list of third surveyor" does it means we have to appoint a third surveyer as well? I thought if he can sort out problem with our surveyer there should be no need of hiring a 3rd surveyer?
Thanks0 -
You only need to appoint a third surveyor to arbitrate in the event that yours and theirs can't agree eg over their surveyors costs as one example. It sounds as though their surveyor has been instructed not to cooperate at all.
Please do consult the guy you are paying from now on - there is a very real risk of your getting conflicting advice now which, however well meaning, could be detrimental - particularly to your stress levels.

Hi, just want to update of what has been happening.
After our surveyer chasing a few days to the adjoining owner's surveyor for a time for site survey in next door house. They have finally arranged a time next week for site inspection.
The AO's surveyer is also requesting to have our site inspected on the same day. Our surveyer told us that we can deny his access as he is not entitled to as his role is to survey the AO's side only. We think the AO surveyer want access as he can charge us for more hours. So at the moment our surveyer and the AO's surveyer is arguing in this matter.
I also read somewhere that mentioned if the AO wants to claim for damage later on and they will have to be responsible for their surveyer's fee. Is this correct? (we don't want to be charging the fee if they are trying to claim for everything and turn out to be nothing, they have already sent us one pic of some dust (they said is plaster) on their worktop) - I think they will try to claim us damage.
Thanks0 -
Next door's surveyer is determining information on whether our surveyer has insurance and whether he is regulated by professional body and asked for a copy of letterhead.
He has also pushing for access on our property. Can I ask whether we have to grant him access?

Another update:
My neigbour sent a pic to her surveyor who forward it to ours. It is a pic of a drain in our rear extension as we have already fix the fence for them. They have to take that pic within our property. So they have entered our property without ours permission.
Since we have put all our pw related job on hold so now builders are starting to tidy up our garden and dig the ground for our patio. They also making a fuss on this!
Just hope we can get out of this never ending problems soon!0 -
Sorry this is going to appear flippant but I think its time to send the "lads"
round for a "chat". I suggested these activities by your neighbour were vexatious earlier up the thread. It now appears I wasn't that far wrong. This is almost bordering on harrassment.
Anyway - back to reality. I am sure your own PWS is giving you the correct advice on dealing with these incidents.

Another update:
The party wall award is still going on and everything is a nightmare so far. It is like a living hell for us at the moment.
The storm took down two of the neighbour fences and they blamed it on our digging for our patio. We agreed to fix it for them even though we don't think it is completely our fault we just want to keep the peace. But they sent us email to get us to commit it is all our fault.
While we are fixing their fence we have asked our builder to put up a fence on our side too. A fence that is higher than theirs but is totally on our land and will not touch her fences. We are putting fences on all three sides of our garden.
The next door complaint again and asked us to stop the work as she needs to check with her surveyor and she said the fences will look ugly and block sunlight on her side.
We are putting a six feet fences up.
The concern that I have is the builder said with the concrete the total height will be 2.1 meters in total.
We are thinking to change the fence to five feet so will be within limit but since next door is so troublesome the extra feet will really help to block her out of our sight.0 -
Hi,
Does anyone know if we change the fence to five foot but the concrete post is higher than two meters, do we still need planning permission?
Thank you in advance.0 -
Why do you want to install posts that are higher than your fence panels ??0
