thank you all!
my OH has accepted that we have finally found our 'mystery' woman! he is dying to tell his brother, but woke up this morning feeling very ropey (caught some sort of cold virus off grandson), and wants to tell bro in person and show him the pic. he hopes to feel better tomorrow and will then go visit bro. (we have no contact with eldest bro and the other brother died back in 2002).
I have been adding his mothers fathers side to his tree and everything so far has checked out with MY research.
his mothers side I have added to as well back to her grandparents (after that its someone elses research,,,,,,,,,,, -BUT ,it doesn't feel right............I need to do my own checking. yet the OH thinks this is 'gospel'!0 -
his mothers side DOES check out! I checked out siblings and our ancestor put the wrong county of Birth on Census! I hate it when that happens!0

I am desperate to find out about my paternal Grnadfathers dad, he was adopted but nobody knew his biological parents names as there are no records, so the family name we have, no one is sure if its the adopted name or the biological name as there are absolutely no records on the adoption. My grandparents have searched it, I have searched it but it is always a brick wall. We always come back to the same person alive at the moment, searching the exact same thing but no one can figure out how it all fits in. I will elude me for what seems like forever.0

If there are no written records, dna testing may be the only way to find a family link. Of course, it's dependent another family member from the missing branch getting tested as well but still worth a try.0
