I notice Three offer this, and it's very cheap.
Has anyone gone this route instead of broadband? Do you think it'd be okay downloading absolutely shedloads of stuff?

No - because your service is wireless your bandwidth will be less, and if you are in a busy area, even streaming may be impossible as multiple users are served from the same mast.
For moving lots of data, only a fixed connection (for the moment ) will cut it.0 -
One of my children does in her rented flat. Seems to work fine. She typically uses about 10GB per month. It obviously depends on how good the signal is in your local area. She is able to get about 14 Mbit/S speed on her phone and about 6 Mbit/S on her tethered laptop. Good enough for IPlayer (although watching in HD can be a bit temperamental). I would be nervous if you planned to use this approach with lots of tethered devices, but should be OK for one or two.0
