mandatory interview VS Job interview.

The Job Centre DO NOT sanction its the decision maker at the DWP who does
The JC would report him for not attending and then in turn he would get a letter saying there was a doubt and he would be given a chance to prove he went to an interview, so can send a photo copy of the letter with all the contact details etc to them at the DWP as proof
They can not sanction people for going to an job interview!
I agree!
Although........ having a valid reason might fall fowl and still lead to a sanction if correct notification is not provided in the correct time frames. It also has to be provided to the correct party/parties.
See that pdf I linked too in my previous post for notification rules.
There's anecdotal evidence that there is a real lack of training in who to notify for what and when that has to happen especially between JCP+ front line staff and 3rd parties like the Work Program. Both will tell you it's not me guv and because you then fail to notify correctly you get hit with a sanction on a technicality even with a rock solid valid reason.0 -
I would go to the interview, take the name of the advisers who are telling you no to go. let them send it to DMA along with proof of the interview, I can assure you no DM will impose a sanction.
I find it really hard to understand why they will not re-arrange the JCP interview unless you have missed several or your Job int is a registration with an agency rather than an actual interview.0 -
thanks all, he attended the mandatory, in wich the interviewer told him that what he had been told to do was against guidelines I.E drop a job interview for a mandaotory, he explained he had shown proof of the interview to the lady and she told him tough, and the interviewer asked who it was, he pointed her out straight away at the other desk, the interviewer went and got the manager, and they both sat down and an official complaint form was filled in and made.
he hadnt missed any interview with the jcp.
as for the job interview, they withdrew the offer when he asked to rearrange as they had no other time slots in wich to rearrange.
he'll hear back from the complaint in 14days time.0 -

Let's hope that they actually do write to him, admit that they were wrong and offer their sincere apologies.
I wouldn't be holding my breath for a letter to arrive with that lot in it!
If other government departments are anything to go by, HMRC had a complaint from me (after being advised by them over the telephone that I should as what they did was completely wrong). That was mid July. Letter came mid August saying that it was taking longer to deal with. I am still waiting for a reply 9 weeks and counting.
They really don't like putting that sort of admission on record.0 -
he's had a reply from the complaint.
it was basic stuff.
