the vast majority of Londoners don't live in a ghastly flat share in Edmonton costing two thirds their take home pay;
indeed it's possible that done do unless of course you have first hand experience you want to share?0 -
First Time Buyers have ALWAYS been pushed to breaking point, it has always been a struggle getting that first home.
This is not news.
The market is a free market - those who work hard and save hard and study to earn more get on the ladder ............ it's how it should be.
The lazy and those generation X who expect everything to fall in their laps are left behind ..... that. too, is how it should be.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
What a surprise. Only rich people with good jobs or a load of money can afford to buy in central London.0

Why do you say the quality of life is better in Edinburgh rather than London?
Depends on what you value in life."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

We weren't pushed to breaking point. Yes we saved up and had a 20% deposit but we were far from breaking point. We even planned on it being affordable on a single income.
I doubt either would so easy now."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

of course it does which is why I asked the bloody question
if you want you share your values then fine, otherwise why write the obvious.0 -

Has my portion of the boomer rent gone to you by mistake as I haven't received it yet.
Got it. Banked it. Spent it.
Being a selfish boomer yourself, you'll understand why I'm keeping it. It arrives every week in blood-stained £50 notes in the same box containing a pound of Generation X flesh, together with 5 pieces of silver and a signed photograph of MacMillan with the rousing message "You never had it so good."0 -

And why would anyone want to. Overpriced, overcrowded, expensive, dangerous dump. Move out of the city.0 -

Ahem....
No self respecting Gen X-er with half a brain would still be renting.
After all, we had the cheapest house prices in history, the lowest interest rates in history, and the most reasonable lending standards in history during our adult lives.
If you are Gen X, and you haven't bought, "you need your head read" as the Australians would say.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
