This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning All
For some unknown reason, I have woken up far too early, so thought I would start you off, as I know some of you workers have very little time in a morning.
Just sat here in the dark browsing, when I do rarely wake up at silly o'clock I treat it as "me" time:D:,Plans for today are to make the dog bed.
Molly how are things with you?
((Hugs)), spoons, Positive & healing vibes all round.- Take care everyone. DG

Good morning everyone
Friday the 13th?
Not to worry, am sure things can't get worse anyway
Left work at 8pm last night, home at 9 and in bed before 10, now I'm on the way there again. At one time I would have been profusely thanked for this, now it's expected and then when they have had their pound of flesh, we will be out of the door. Oh except some people' faces fit, they stand around and have chats, take 4 times as long to do things and yet are better thought of by those that have the influence because they are shameless in their "sucking up" to management
Bitter? Me? Oh yes I am at the moment
My karma is suffering but so is my health and my self esteem, I really don't now how much longer I can stick this for but am sure that is management/HR's intention - drive the long serving staff out so we don't need to pay the redundancy and bonuses.
Sorry for the rant, at least it's Friday.
Talking of which, I got pork mince out of the freezer and put it in the fridge on Wednesday night to cook last night, it's still in the fridge, will it be ok to cook tonight?
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

I shall be well and truly whacked tonight.

I have had some sleep BB, I just haven't had as much as normal for me, whichnismprobablyntwicenas much as I used to get before retirement.
TTFTM - hang on in there, sometimes management are not as daft as they appear on the surface. Don't miss out by departing, unless something bigger and better comes along. Your mince will be fine it would have taken until late yesterday to thaw in the fridge.

Morning all, whilst I have no choice as I don't have a car anymore, I am being OS and walking my daughter to playgroup today. Round trip of 3 miles and I have to do it twice.
Then a bit of tidying this afternoon, followed by HM fish pie for tea. Oh and have to fit homework with the kids in there somewhere aswell.
Have a great day everyone.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -

Sorry you're having such a tough time but at least your mince should be OK!
I'm feeling really rough (got the cold - whine, moan, whinge) so will be doing the minimum of everything today. Got to do a few things in the garden, will skip washing the greenhouse roof though! Should be seeing my CPN today but think I"ll probably ask her to reschedule - why share my germs when my mental health is good?
It's Friday so pizza and dessert for tea. And that's something I have no intention of skipping!
Have a good day everyoneHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Morning peeps
Been wet overnight but feels surprisingly warm
Hubby's car still not fixed so I am still unable to Explore any further than I can walk which considering all the walking I am doing for dog and kids to school is the last thing I want to doI want my four wheels back, even if they are totally sh*^ wheels. Hubby's car costing £2k  but it went "bang" in a very big well. Not else to do other than bend over and take it
Plans today beside the usual dog walking and tidying......I fancy testing the oven with a bit of baking. Nothing fancy but I promised myself once we moved I would be more OS and make kids biscuits etc. A pottering day methinks.
Chicken chow mein type affair for tea, going to try and have a nice meal and a glass of wine to celebrate our move with hubby. We've not done that yet. Lets see how that goes with the kids bombing around.....
Hugs and spoons all round xx
TTFTM hugs for you, hang in there xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good morning everyone :j
A rather wet and drizzly day here today but I don't mind as I went shopping yesterday and spruced up my living room. I ended up just going to dunelm mill in the end and it was lovely there. I have a love of owls so I bought a gorgeous little owl lamp and an owl tealight holder which really made the room cozy. I also bought 2 furry throws for the settee in brown (I know) but also got red and purple cushions. I also got a couple of ornaments for the shelves. I'm really pleased with it.
Good news, my hubby has been taken on permanently so we can breathe a sigh of relief. :j:j. I know he is a real hard worker and gets on with everyone but I had my fingers so tightly crossed they will take days to recover :rotfl:. I think it's the best thing for us as a family and I am sure I will find ways to cope with being on my own. My artist friend is bipolar and she really struggles in the winter too so we are going to look into getting a SAD lamp each and see if it helps. So I shall be doing some research later.
Busy day today as I'm off to see my paranoid friend (who records everything ). She is going through a bad time at the moment but wanted me to come and see her and she will cook a roast dinner for us. That will be so nice as she's a very good cook. Hubby says he will make tea for him and the girls as he's only on a half day today. I think we should go out tomorrow and celebrate his job situation but I will wait and see what he feels like doing.
That's all from me today. Hope you all manage to have a lovely day even though its Friday the 13th! Hugs and warm wishes to all.
Take care,
Cheers m'dears xx0 -

Honestly you could be talking about my old place, I could never write too much as the person doing the 'sucking up' used to read this, so I had to be careful what I said, I can not tell you the absolute relief I feel now at being out, its like a huge weight has been lifted, hope it all works out for you. Oh and your mince will be fine x
Morning all,
A bit dull here today weather wise, I am off to work again, which is no hardship at all I love this job, none of the nastiness of the old place :T its a completly different atmosphere.
Smoked sausage with pasta for dinner nice and easy, dd can cook, she can also do a wash and tidy round.
We got her reading list last night from Uni it will be at least £200 on books  (and these are second hand !) and she needs a £100 dictaphone, which we have managed to get for £50, it can only be a certain one !
We did have some great news, DD has been offered a bursary from the uni because of her great exam results, (which she will not have to pay back!!) which is absolutly fantastic, unfortunatly the payment does not come through till Dec, so we will have to buy the books in the mean time, please excuse the proud mum moment
Have good days all and hugs to Hilstep xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, dreich, cold and very wet underfoot although not raining here this morning.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was disjointed as DH phoned early afternoon and said he'd bought himself something hot at lunchtime so didn't want any dinner, so I did the boys chips, fish fingers and fried egg. I had jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad. DH then decided when he got home that he fancied something but not much - so he had egg on toast. Tonight will be disjointed too, as we're going away and we're meeting DH at the caravan storage and will leave directly from there once he comes out of work - he will need feeding once we get on site. Myself and boys will have eaten before we leave. Really looking forward to meeting up with our friends - we're cooking a meal together for tomorrow night.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, did housework, washing, drying and ironing (there is some ironing left but only because I had to dry everything in TD and my TD is a small one and doesn't take a big load). Will continue with that today but there's not much left to do.
Today's to do list - go to the bank, food shopping, pack, need to make a dessert, bake some other treats for the tins as they are completely empty and have been a while - much to the disgust of the menfolk!
Need to go to DH's workplace with DS1's memory stick he's been given from college, it's not compatiable with our computer so can't get his work off, but DH's boss has said they will print it out for us.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
it's OK, don't check your clocks I am early for once as I had to inject this morning and didn't want to do it alone. I managed but felt ridiculously worried - I'm not sure why as it is not very painful and virtually fool proof eg you can't get it the wrong way up. DH wasn't much help as a cheer leader as he is diabetic and stabs himself twice daily without worrying.
Today I'm tempted to take my new hairstyle & colour into town but I'm actually going to sort through the freezers - we have two small ones - and make a better list of the contents. I also have washing to do but don't know if it can dry outside.
Dinner will be something from the freezer.
TTFTM - I second the advice, don't just walk, play the long game if only to spite them.
Have the best day you can everybody xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
