Reapplying for credit cards after IVA

just wondering if I should avoid credit card companies that I dealt with for an IVA a few years back.
I am all clear and debt free but looking to make a £1000ish purchase. I have savings to pay it but with 18 months interest free credit it seems like the best plan. and it should boost my credit rating as well.
However the best card is Tesco who I dealt with in my IVA. My credit file showed the account as cleared and now doesn't appear on my file. just wondering if cc companies have a "bad customer" file they would also check before approving?

You have proven you have had credit problems in the past but you seem keen to start all over again. Why no enjoy having some cash in your pocket and if you require credit go for a pre payment cc.0 -
IVA Complete Dec 2011.
Pre-Paid credit cards do not help boost your credit file. I need to prove I am a low credit risk to get a decent deal on a mortgage in the future. The only way to do that is by getting credit.0 -
Get yourself a Vanquis card (40%) interest, buy fuel and food on it only and pay it off when you get the statement so you won't get hit for the interest. Do this for 6 months and apply for a main-stream card and cancel the Vanquis card and spend on the new card for another 6 months.
Dont miss a payment and watch what you spend your money on!!
Try and save up 20-25% cash deposit for your house.....Good luck with your mortgage."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

I have had a vanquis card for 9 months and cleared it every month
just wondering about applying for the best possible "Main stream Card" which appears to be Tesco.
going back to my original question - As Tesco was one of my creditors in my IVA should I avoid them for credit in the future?0 -
If you apply for a normal card your more likely to get declined if you have no other credit.
You could try applying for Tesco's or Barclaycard and see how you go."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
OK. I skipped the tesco one and was approved for the Halifax 15 months 0% on purchases.
going back to my original question - As Tesco was one of my creditors in my IVA should I avoid them for credit in the future? The same for RBS0 -

No idea on Tescos and RBS but in my IVA Barclays were on it and I have a barclay card now."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
