Hello to you moneysavingstalwart,
I think you are an individual and you already had made a good choice -in my opinion, of course. On top I think there are several remarkable things happenign for you here: that you give ALL your moneys to a charity, -how generous-, that you have the integrity to work, that you like your work.
If I was you, I would continue and since you have no financial worries, I would consider my good fortune and make further use of my imagination and skills to keep doing extraordinary things for yourself and for other people. Good deeds always generates good deeds I say.
Thanks for your honesty.0 -

Give up your paid work so that somebody who needs the job can do it.
Replace the time now available working for a charity.
This way you have someone who needs a job earning a wage , not doing free work, they then have money to spend which would help the economy (if only a little) and you are giving to charity.
Just my views.
^ I agree with this0 -

I feel the whole issue has been irrevocably coloured by your stating what you do with your 'disposable' income. We shouldn't have known that. We only needed to know that you don't need an income from the job you now hold.0

I agree with the people you work with.
Having boat payments or perhaps a more expensive car and house than you can afford is a far better use of your salary than giving it to them fat cats in the charity world.0 -
Wow! I'm completely gob-smacked!
Of course, you should not quit if you still wish to continue working there. However, it may be that, under the circumstances, you won't feel comfortable working there anymore.
I strongly believe that the person/people who let slip your circumstances should be sacked. That was a total breach of confidentiality, and I certainly wouldn't want them to be working in such a privileged position. That might seem a bit harsh, but really, it's just NOT acceptable. Let the company give their job(s) to people who would not breach that confidentiality for heavens sake.
Congratulations on what you do. It shouldn't be presumed that because you have an independent income you don't need to work. I've retired, but I really miss what work gave to my life. Anyway, would people prefer you to sit around and do nothing? They would soon complain about that.0 -
Work keeps me sane and whilst I can physically do it I will carry on. If this is the job you enjoy then carry on doing it, the people who have said you should give up your job are only jealous. Keep donating keep working and be happy that you are doing good.Keep on trying it will be your turn soon x0

If you enjoy it and do a good job then you are an asset to the company as well as being a generous human being who is helping society.
So if that is the case, then keep your job!
However, if you are lousy at it, then give it to someone else who needs it!0 -
I think you'll learn a lesson from this. Don't tell people what you do with your money, it's private and you should only tell people you trust after you've known them for some time.
Regarding your working - if you're happy there, then stay. However you say your co-workers are complaining about you being there now. This could blow over or it could make things so difficult you no longer enjoy the job. That's for you to decide really as only you know what you want from all of this.
One idea to make things a bit better - possibly - is to let everyone vote on where each months salary goes. So instead of gift aiding the whole lot each month you could ask people to tell you which charity they would like you to donate to each month and which ever one you get the most votes for, you'll donate your whole months salary to that one.
That should please them all and it means your spare cash is being given to a few more causes than just one, which is fairer in the whole realm of things.0 -
Hi there.
Firstly wanted to say fair play to you for giving away your salary. I'm not sure everyone in your position would do the same.
Secondly, could you ask the CEO/managers etc of the company you work for to use your salary to fund two or three apprenticeships at grass roots level. That way it's a win/win situation. Helps with employment and you keep your job.0
