  • Royal mail don't make the decision as to how many days a week they deliver, how much they can charge tnt/ukmail to deliver the leters, it's all dictated to royal mail.

So it's hands are tied pretty.

Dividend Yield will be 6% minimum ..... no wonder the Institutions have oversubscribed!

Anyone who doesn't buy for the 6% return over 6 months is bonkers - that's if you have the cash, of course.

Just bought a new car today, but I'm putting a wodge into this - will pay for any depreciation in the car - RESULT!

£750 is the minimum .... which is pathetic in all honesty, what figure do you think you will get your whole allocation? £20,000? £50,000?

    Precisely.
Thats what I meant when I said Royal Mail depends on political favour.
You just put it better than me :)

    Does it really matter?

Collect the Divi of 6% in April and sell at a 20% profit ...... if you are doubtful about this then you will never even cross the road as the moon may roll down the road and kill you :rotfl:

I doubt that greed would see me victorious and I would end up with nothing :(

Personally, I think £10k would secure a full placement.

If its oversubscribed and gov intends to hold a min amount also I expect retail will get the min amounts only. Of course if the workers strike and take no shares I guess that will be distributed.

To stop a strike they should have given all the shares to the workers and the rest to the pension fund, however that would not be a proper floating stock. Some coal miners took over their own mine and worked as a co-op, thats really a better idea

Potential dividend of 6.6%, but this could be offset by V.A.T. changes - risky.

Major issues with employee relations - risky.

Trying to expand Parcelforce into a very mature market - risky.

Ongoing relationship with Post Office - not sure.

Profit margin - can't read the accounts where I am just now.

Revenue from stamp-based sales - under political control.

Guaranteed 3-year pay increase to staff - risky for profit margins.

So, taking all that into consideration, and looking at my previous investments, I'll almost certainly be having a wee punt! :)

Dontcha just love quoting yourself? :)

Anyways, just transferred £750 to the old Halifax sharebuilder account. Let's see if the potential 35 - 40% increase happens and I get a £300 windfall! I took the cash from a fund that's stagnated over the last year so anything at all will be welcome.
