    Hello everyone,

I'd like to send get well wishes to all the people and partners who are ill/in pain, thinking of Hilstep,Halight,Penny Pincher,Hester,Butterfly Brain,Molly to name a few, sorry if I missed anyone.

Well the birthday tea DiL2b did went down well with everyone-I think she did really well, with a little bit of help from DS2,so it was a nice evening, and no cooking for me.I did ask if I could do anything but she said it was all organised.Normally I would have made a cake but I didnt want to overshadow her efforts-got there and got asked if I'd made a cake by about 4 different people :p Still her SisIL bought a flake cake and we had it with ice cream, the children had ice cream cones.

Our tea tonight is gammon steak, burger for DS1 as he's not keen.

Just ordered some trimmings for the Moses basket re-covering,prob not arrive till next week but I can't see me getting chance to do it before then anyway-following Lylapup round with the mop is a full time occupation at the mo ;) I can be outside with her for 10 mins or more and she'll promptly come in and wee.I've blocked off the entrance to the lounge by dragging the kitchen sofa across-we're open plan and I think she has too much space to wander/piddle :rotfl:and if I'm in the kitchen I cant see what she's up to in the lounge.

    Bye for now x

...Can anyone tell me I've got some tomato plants which are outside, loads of tomatoes still on but nearly all are green, will they still ripen if the weather has cooled down? ....

Take them off, put them into a box with a lid in a single layer & put in a coolish darkish place, maybe under a bed...and DON'T FORGET THEM!

    They will slowly ripen ;)
  • Thought I would say a quick hello I havent posted for some time on here probably last when was on mat leave in 2010/11, time flies by although often still use the boards but dont post so often.

we now have a lovely 3yr old little boy and I have been back at work since he was 9mths old initially 3 days a week until he was 13mths and then 4 days a week, I also do some ad-hoc maternity night nanny and babysitting work which pays for any little extras like days out etc; he goes to both a nursery and childminder to give him a good mix of childcare settings and also keeps costs down a little. He will start school next sept only having turned 4, 3 days before the term starts, childcare will be a complete different ball game then, yes cheaper I imagine in term time but far more complicated.

We have moved house in the last month so although we had reduced our mortgage down alot we are back to what we started at but have a wonderful new house where we plan to live for many many years. :)

We continue to save money as much as possible with batch cooking, only buying meat when its on offer or reduced unless we really have to. Also we try to only buy bread products when reduced luckily there is a co-op between my work and nursery that often has bread reduced to 75% off that has a days date left but we have a chest freezer - that is hit and miss though sometimes loads stuff there and sometimes not alot.

This summer we grew some fruit and veg but not so much as we were moving and didnt put anything other than garlic in the raised beds.

After living in the old house for 6.5yrs we discovered for the first time this summer the business park/industrial estate near by (10mins walk) has loads (50 plus) cherry trees how we had missed them I dont know but we picked tonnes this year and along with our blackcurrant bush and strawberries made quite alot of jam.

anyway this is turning into a very long post sorry.

    hope everyone is ok,

    Afternoon All
Just been to the Wheatley side of town outlets, B&M, HomeBargains, Lidl & £stretcher.
B-bird. They had some Menthol e-cigs in HB, £6.99, and refills the same price.
I was looking for a cheap Cot size quilt to make a quilt for Skye for the winter, she is a very "Nesh" dog and likes to be covered, OK spoilt one then. Only fancy baby ones at BM & HB no cheap single ones either, hence trip to £S, found a summer double for £5.99, which I can double up to make this and a cheap fleece throw, to make the cover from. As the weather has turned cooler, she is now curling up on us to keep warm. As you can see with the FB piccy, she is spoilt by DH.:rotfl::rotfl: :o

Also picked up some bits to take with us, tea-bags, sauces, things we know are dearer in Spain. Nabbed a couple of long sleeved t-shirts in Lidl for £6.99:D

P-P sorry to hear your health is not great, I am sure DD will be fine. I have a DS who I used to check he was still breathing when he came up on M/S messenger as Online. He had a whale of a time at Uni. Never mind the studying it was a 3 year social event.:rotfl::rotfl: He did manage his degree. He don't return home after Uni, as he was pursuing a career, be prepared for that.

Hillstep Jayward and I was just wondering where you where on Skype IM the other day. Pleased to see you back, but please look after yourself.

Welcome to all the newbies :hello: pull up a chair and make yourselves comfy, we are a friendly lot here.

Back to the paperwork this p.m. Not in the mood really, but needs must, unless I get the sewing machine out and make the dog quilt.

Anyway, better get my bum in gear, ((hugs)). spoons, positive & healing vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

Dumpling - How about bits of red

Funnily enough that was what I chose and also some purple bits too. I'm much happier with how it looks. I also bought a very cute owl lamp which brings his own cheerful vibe!
