But its possibly people who are nice to posts like that, that get scammed buying 10 tickets for someone they don't know. Also almost all the forums I'm on if someone joined and their first post was of that nature would get a bollocking.

i actually wasn't referring to whether you were at a 'proper' uni - i'm sorry if that's how you interpreted it.

i do think it's quite cheeky to come in and ask for such a specific request though - if you'd said something more general, i bet lots of people would have offered anyway!

incidentally, i think emzig123 probably has the best reply - most unis are members of the NUS but you now need a card that you personally need to pay for to get most of the discounts. this page may help:
