Does the keyfacts override the policy?

What does section 4 of your policy say?

It's whether it says it on the Certificate whether you have the driving other cars extension which is the important thing.

I would agree but of those that do I wonder how many actually may believe that they are insured and are paying the premium but legally they aren't?

As from an answer I have received on another thread if you receive fixed penalty points, don't or can't hand over your license and it is more than 28 days after you were requested to produce your license, your license would be revoked.
It is a condition of most if not all policies that the driver either has or is entitled to a license that has not been revoked then they would be covered. Having a revoked license but still paying the premiums will still mean no valid insurance!

Most Certificates of Insurance actually say to the effect "The driver holds or has held a driving licence"

On my policy it states - "Those specified below..... provided that the person driving holds a licence to drive the vehicle or has held AND is NOT disqualified from holding or obtaining such a licence."

Would someone that has had their licence revoked due to their failure to hand it over be treated as being disqualified?

The only reason I ask is that I know that I had a speeding offence back in 1998, but because I had moved and hadn't notified a change of address, the summons could not be served. I'm just wondering that in default I was found guilty and as I didn't hand my licence over, I haven't actually had a licence for the past 14 years!!!

There's a difference between a disqualification and a licence being revoked
  • When my kids reach 25 (5 years to go for the 1st), and they have thier own insurance on some little hatch, I'm planning on moving to the disposable banger barge phase of my motoring journey, so that occasionally they can be entrusted with some V8 monster which is worthless, (apart from the LPG kit which I'll remove if I need to scrap it)

I'm 19 and I can drive other peoples cars.

If you park in one of the wrong parts of Liverpool there are kids of 14 or 15 maybe even less who think they can drive other peoples cars.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
