The same applies to you. You often post the SOGAS act but as I've said before I'm not aware of any case where this argument has been used successfully in court in a case of mobile phone contracts.
No, the same does not apply to me. By what means would you be aware of any relevant cases? Do you have access to the same case law archives that a solicitor has? You often post advice in here which runs contrary what what specialised consumer solicitors say. You post all kinds of pseudo-legal opinions without any legal training or without consulting a solicitor.
• I've spoken to Orange/EE this morning and they've no idea why it has happened they've offered to not charge me any line rental for the days the phone number was changed. I've been told it will be back up and running in the next 24 hours.

Quite happy with that just waiting for original number to come back active once again. One of the reasons it took me so long to identify the error is i've been using my works phone.
Their offer of just not charging for days affected was a little petty i thought, but Orange aren't the best when it comes to customer service.

Should i just leave it as it is or write a letter of complaint?

This is a pathetic amount. You could push for something at no cost to Orange, for example two additional free months after the end of your minimum contract term. I think you'll get more out of the Executive Office.
• Could you point me in the direction of a good letter template if possible please?

I would just send an e-mail to executive.office@ee.co.uk. Explain what happened, the impact upon you, and what compensation (or "goodwill gesture") you expect to receive. Ask also for an explanation of how and why it happened and what steps Orange is taking to prevent the error from being inflicted upon other customers.
