The housebuilder Barratt Developments has said the recovery in the housing market is spreading.
"We are seeing the housing market recovery starting to spread beyond London and the South East," chief executive Mark Clare said.
The group reported pre-tax profits for the year to the end of June of £104.8m, up from £100m the previous year.
Its average selling price rose to £194,800 up 7.9% from the previous year's figure of £180,500.
Barratt expects to complete about 45,000 new homes over the next three years.
More and more people are feeling the warmth of the economic positive growth .... nothing can stop this boom now it is taking hold nationally.
What marvellous news!!

Those HPC pathetics must be absolutely hating themselves now, they subjected their poor families to rented accomodation while wishing ill on those buying their own properties.
What a big mistake they have made, their savings are earning 1% and that is taxed ...... homemakers are enjoying 5.5% House Price growth.
They couldn't buy back into the market now, even if they wanted to - you just have to chuckle at their stupidity

If only there were some way to tell them that. ..0

I think they know ..... they must feel really stupid, but they are not blind - their plans have died, I feel for their families.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0

Good news indeed but I want to see more from manufacturing and exporting going forwards. I realise these 2 areas are improving but we need this trend to be sustained.0

When the EU lifts out of their recession (as they will as sure as the sun rises) - then exports and manufacturing will go into overdrive.
Right now, though, Houses around me are selling before they come to market ...... it's getting too hot.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
But but you didn't think about the poor and vulnerable people. They might not be happy therefore nobody should be happy. You'd better start acting miserable until the last vulnerable is living it up and then you can crack a smile. Think about the vulnerables!0

Thanks, too many on this Forum just think of themselves and nobody else. They couldn't care a toss about the working man, worried how he's going to support his wife and children. Many of the likes of the OP would only be to happy to have them thrown into Workhouses if they lost their jobs. They disgust me!0 -
Dribbles ........ I think of everyone! Everyone should rejoice in the news that we are coming out of the dark and into the light!
Rejoice that wages are climbing, jobs are numerous, the poor and vulnerable are cared for better, house prices spiral upwards meaning people spend, spend, spend - creating jobs, jobs, jobs!!
It's only via the rich does money filter to the poor, the vulnerable, and yes sadly to the bone idle too!

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said building activity rose by 2.2% between June and July. Further recovery is in the pipeline, with new orders growing strongly. There were 33% more new orders in the April-June period compared with a year ago, the biggest increase since records began in 2005.

Rejoice that wages are climbing for some but those on living wage or less have now grown to their highest 20%., jobs are numerous especially NMW, zero hour contracts, temporary and part time, the poor and vulnerable are cared for better not quite sure where you dreamt that up from, house prices spiral upwards meaning people take on larger debt

If only it did too busy building personal wealth for personal gratification for much to trickle down voluntarily."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
