What could have caused 2 wild birds to die together? UPDATED

(UPDATED: Post 44)
There are 2 dead adult birds in my back yard, lying maybe 6 inches apart from each other. There doesn't seem to be any blood.
They are in a tarmaced/ gravelled area where we never normally get birds (nothing much to peck on the hardstanding).
I'm at a loss to know what could have killed them both there at the same time?
There was weedkiller used weeks ago but it obviously wasn't very effective as there are still healthy green weeds there and we've had loads of rain since.
Is it possible the weedkiller could have been the cause? I can't think why they would even have been pecking there though, it's not like there was any food put out for them or that there was anything there for them to peck at and I would have thought the weedkiller was long gone by now.
OH reckons they were fighting and flew into the window, killing themselves outright.
I don't. :rotfl:

I'd have thought they'd flown into a window two, probably not fighting though, just flying together as birds do!
It happens a lot actually, when I used to live near a wood it seemed like there were bird prints on the window nearly every week.0 -
I dont think it would be the weedkiller, I think most brands are safe after they dry and if there's been rain then it would have washed away. It does seem a bit strange though.0

Thing is though, it's a back yard type area and not really a bird 'throughfare' iyswim. The front garden is big and we've certainly had birds hitting off the front window but those tend to be smaller garden varieties.
It's also too coincidental for me that they should both die even if they did bang off the window.
Maybe that is the case though, who knows. It just doesn't feel right to me.Herman - MP for all!

Maybe they flew head in, into each other.0

They were 4' from the window and 4' from the back porch (think 'L' shape), I honestly can't see them flying here. They just look poisoned to me. (But maybe that's my conscience talking in case it was my weedkiller that killed them.
)
I included a pic in case anyone has any suggestions springing from it. I'll remove it if it upsets anyone.

If it was my cats, there'd be a foot left from one and the other would be horribly mutilated.0
