If i went to a PPI claim company i might have a better chance of winning.....70% of something as opposed to 100% of nothing.
Statistically you are more likely to fail by using a claims company. A complaints handler at a bank is going to be more sympathetic with a complaint that is honest and using the FOS form than a standard one-size-fits-all template letter they have seen thousands of times with everyone just happening to have the same reasons. In areas where there is a lack of evidence, credibility comes into play. A template letter giving fake and made up reasons by a claims company lacks credibility and harms your chance of success.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I am still waiting to hear from the HSBC, as they contacted me regarding a loan I took out with them in 2007.
I answered the questions to the best of my knowledge and memory. Most of the technical details regarding the meeting I couldn't remember anyway. I did have to contact my previous employer to ask about their sickness policy, as there was question about that.
Has anyone here won a case with the HSBC? They said it takes 8 weeks and I'm sure it's been that long since I sent the claim form back. I still haven't heard anything back yet.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -

Yes they have. HSBC are affected just like any other bank. However, 8 weeks is early. Many have been waiting 12-18 months.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). HSBC (in common with other banks) have eight weeks in which to consider a complaint. So the OP should be receiving a full and final letter within that timeframe.Abbafan1972 wrote:They said it takes 8 weeks and I'm sure it's been that long since I sent the claim form back. That's a little unfair I think, Dunstonh. Only people who've referred their declined complaint to the Ombudsman are kept waiting that long.

Whilst 12-18 months is a worst case scenario, the 8 week timescale is an objective figure where the individual can go to the FOS after that. However, plenty of complaints are still taking longer than the 8 weeks.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
