The Desire C has a better screen and camera. It comes with a newer version of Android.. it was release a year after that Samsung.
A review can be found here - http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_c-review-785.php
Don't touch that Samsung phone.. it's old and creaky0 -
A quick google tells me:
Reasons to consider the Galaxy Y
Significantly newer bluetooth support (Typically faster data transfer and lower power consumption connecting to other bluetooth devices)
Lighter (Around 30% lighter)
Slightly smaller (Around 20% smaller)
Reasons to consider the Desire
Significantly higher PPI screen (More than 90% crisper display of text, images and video)
Higher resolution screen (5x higher resolution screen)
Higher resolution camera (Take photos with 2.5x more detail for larger prints)
More standby time (Around 3x more standby time, less frequent charging)
Faster processor (More powerful processor, snappier and more responsive (around 30% faster))
Higher resolution movies (Shoots higher resolution video)
Larger screen (Around 40% larger screen)0 -

thanks for that, but it really means nothing to me0 -
Forget contracts and buy her a Nokia 520 and use GiffGaff £10 a month goodybag.
No contract. About £110-£130 outlay on phone and £120 a year (£10 a month) on SIM only.
For £10 a month get:
500 UK minutes
Unlimited UK texts
1GB internet
Free giffgaff to giffgaff calls
Infact at Carphonewarehouse - sim free Nokia 520 is £119.950 -
does your daughter have a preference? If you asked her what phone she'd want, what does she say?
Only asking, because my daughter is 12, and once she was at secondary school, everyone had blackberrys, and thats what she asked for for Christmas. She's not on a contract, and because all her friends seem to have blackberrys too, a £20 payg bbm booster for 6 months use lasts her without me having to top up for "normal" calls and texts more than £5 every 3 months or so.0 -

probably a good idea before i make a decision0 -
The Samsung gets an extra 150 minutes per month for the same price.
Therefore, in Tesco's eyes, the HTC is the better (more desireable?) phone.0 -
Don't get Galaxy Y. The screen is too small, I find it difficult to text.0
-
And don't get a contract. That opens up content for Over 18's and that is bad news. PAYG is the only realistic way to go. Lastly, Blackberry's may be fine if peer pressure dictates, but then that doesn't mean it is a good buy.0

having a look at the nexus 4,what are peoples views on that phone.
thanks
