BT Broadband speed issue

I recently switched from Sky to BT as I was with BT prior to Sky, the speed I get now is embarassing, I can't watch a 2 minute youtube clip without it buffering. I get 1.6mb according to their speed checker, I was quoted between 4-6mb prior to signing up. Could I cancel on the fact that it is not providing the service it advertised?

As for your question can you cancel on the speed not being as advertised. Well I think you have a case to put forward to BT if it doesn't reach even the minimum speed they suggested.

But also be aware that an upgrade in connection, e.g a switch from ADSL to ADSL2+ can result in slower speeds. You might wish to discuss this with BT and find out for sure. Most the time its a faulty router or something like that, or maybe a micro filter that's had its day. I'm not a techie but it's worth asking the questions and exploring all possibilities.

You should definitely contact BT and explain the situation and ask how they can support you?
