What's happened to 07744 replacement?

Like others, I'm angry at Orange for short notice of cancellation of free 07744 numbers. Very confusing statements about who this applies to. As far as I know, all Orange users have to pay. There was a thread yesterday detailing a replacement for 07744 numbers. It was a 0792 number and this was updated with a 07700 number. This has mysteriously disappeared today. Was this a scam? has it been removed by MSE?

Anyone got a way of using Orange minutes to call abroad?

Ok - two things to note:

    (1) Orange have not started charging for 07744 calls on all tariffs so check carefully whether you are actually effected or not. I immediately told my gf to stop using the service she was using (I am in the States at the moment), but it turns out it won't apply to her as she is not on any of the animal packages and did not sign up between 1 March and 31 July 2007. Here are the terms:

Update: Orange appears to have changed their policy regarding charges for 07744 and 07755 services for SOME customers. Their Website announces that, from 8 June 2007, new terms will apply customers connecting or upgrading to a Dolphin, Canary, Racoon or Panther “Animal Package” via Orange Direct between 1 March 2007 and 31 July 2007. For these customers, calls to 07744 and 07755 numbers are not included in bundle and will be charged at a flat rate of 20p/min.Orange’s complete announcement can be found on the Orange Website. For customers affected by the change, click here for our new 1p/min service, otherwise continue to use our free calls below

    (2) There are plenty of ways to make cheap calls from mobiles (although not free as we have got used to). My girlfriend uses a top-up service from call2abroad (https://www.call2abroad.com) (no connection) and reckons it's pretty good. The cost is now 1p/min to call me in the US.

    Hope that helps.

    Dear all

I used the 07744/ 07755 numbers extensively to call India from my Virgin and Orange contracts. I believe both have excluded these from monthly minutes.

What is the next cheapest way to call India. Martin's site has come up with an 0845 number which costs 3p per min to landline or mobile from BT line.

I've also heard someone say that O2 includes 0870 and 0845 in its monthly free minutes. If this is true, I would buy an O2 monthly contract.

    Cheers

AT the moment 18866 and rebtetl are cheapest.
But you can also try alpha telecom trial offer via https://www.quidco.com and unicomuk.com .These 2 suppliers works cheaper if you use top up for first time only.
In calling cards solo card is the best one which gives lot of minutes but i never prefer cards .
