My OH was booked to got to one of these evenings at Watford store last night. The store claimed to know nothing about it & the manager was quite rude to the people who had turned up (many with their confirmation emails).
Very odd as they were due to host 3 evenings, one last week & two this.
Not very impressive for tesco's new flagship store.0 -
I too attended the Tesco Watford food evening which never materialised.
Really disappointed and I think MSE shouldn't advertise these events if they don't occur.
The "customer service" staff were very rude and had no idea what was going on.0 -
This is down to Tesco, not MSE!0

We (hubby & I) went to Kingston Park last night and thought it was very good. didn't realise that they made most things from scratch in the store. Two trainee managers did the talking but felt sorry for them as there was a baby disrupting things and you could tell they weren't used to doing presentations. There was also a manager there who was very good answering any questions and telling us what they have planned for the store.
There was loads to taste including oils and dips (I didn't even have to tell hubby to be polite) and we filled a bag with the samples - just had them for my dinner today.
We got everything above with 2 different breads (no choice) and in two bags. But it was only one between us.
They are looking to do different department nights in the future so I hope that now we have attended that we get an email invite. The manager implied that everyone there had been invited because they were good customers - we went because of MSE (It is not our local store but we do shop there sometimes as it is (was) the biggest in the area.Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100

Nothing to do with MSE. All Tesco's fault, though they are passing the blame around like pass the parcel.
I've been on to Tesco Customer Service this morning, who kept saying it was nothing to do with them as the events are organised by a third party.
CS spoke to them though & they (Tesco Events?) claim that there was never any such evening planned for Watford & the website must have been wrong! However, we had at least two confirmation emails from them. Then they said that everyone booked received a cancellation email - we definately didn't get one of those.
All a bit of a shambles & very badly handled all round.
Such a shame, from others postings it sounded really good.
The Watford Duty Manager's attitude was what bothered us the most, she acted really irritated & implied that all the customers were being awkward by turning up. She tried to fob everyone off with a loaf of bread each at first (oooh!) & then reluctantly offered a gift voucher. Which wouldn't work. But by then my OH couldn't face going back to the unco-operative service desk.0 -

I was at Kingston Park last night too, Mavis - I was the Billy No Mates on my own as my sister had to go to the dentist. It should be compulsory for all MSE members to wear badges with their user name on! I also took advantage of the offer to fill a bag with samples, so breakfast this morning was salted pretzel.
For anyone else still to go, we also got a hot drink on the way in from the cafe, and there was plenty of flavoured and plain water to drink during the event. They said the next one will be for the Finest Food range, but didn't give any dates other than hoepfully in the next four weeks or so.
There's a questionnaire to fill in at the end, just to give feedback on your experience. I enjoyed it and tried a few things that I woudn't necessarily have bought, but will do now.0 -

Now I am trying to guess which one you were :rotfl: We were the ones there early and were sat in the middle answering all the questions. Although you might not have noticed us as hubby was relatively well behaved (I did warn him not to eat everything in sight!)
Were you invited by email (as the manager implied in his speech about 'special' customers) or did you apply from the link on here?Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100

I was sat near the front, glasses, grey jacket, jeans, rucksack. I did snigger a little when he mentioned the email and had a sneaky look back at all the faces to see if I could guess who else, like me, had use the link from here. :rotfl:
I didn't dare take my husband - he would have told rubbish jokes and hoovered up everything in sight, except the hummus, which he believes to be the food of the devil.0 -
Anyone going to the one in Bicester tonight?0

Went to the New Malden presentation yesterday evening with my niece. We were also surprised to find out that Tesco produced a lot of its bakery products in store. We were given a tour of the in store bakery which was great too. I will definitely be adding some of the products sampled to my future shopping lists. My niece was given 1 goody bag but I was fortunate to be given 2 goody bags with all the products listed above in an earlier post. Very enjoyable evening.0
