This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Next redundancy consultation today and neither management or HR are bothering to come, we are expected to speak to them by phone. We all feel this shows how little respect they have for us and also how this is just a tick box exercise for legal reasons and they already know exactly what they intend to do and whatever we suggest will just be bulldozed out of the way
DD had really good hospital appointment yesterday and is starting to heal, her next appointment is for 2 weeks and she has physio in the meantime.
Have been very lax on saving money this month and it's showing in our bank balance. It's official, stress is bad for MSE and OS lifestyle and I need to get back in gear
Better get a move on so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs them or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all!
I was absent yesterday and for no good reason - I had a lot to do but wasn't organised so spent most of the day running hither and thither. Moving swiftly on ...
I had been going to try a new (to me) Stitch 'n' !!!!! group this afternoon but I'm going to have to go (back) into town instead as I'm running out of handwash (funny skin requires special wash). Bring on pay-day so I can put in my monthly orders for the bits and bobs I need and stop running to the shops because things are running out. That's an expensive way to do things.
I also want a trip to the garden centre. I need more compost and some troughs. And, of course, I'll need to tend my seedlings - fingers crossed the slugs haven't been at work again! And I need to pick up the ironing later in the day which means I'll be able to go back to the gym as I'll have suitable clothes once again. Not sure I'll make it there today though!
A busy day but that's how I like it! How's your day looking?Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning all,
TTFTM horrible times for you, at least with my redundancy I was more than ready to go, (could not get out the door quick enough !) and the whole process only took about 5 weeks, hope its not to bad for you x
Nice day here although a bit blowy, I am off to work DD has the day off so she will tidy the lounge / kitchen, and out the dinner in later on, its ready, just needs putting in the oven, chicken curry for us and quorn chicken curry for her.
Will get dd to put a wash on and hang it out, and she needs to make sure she is all ready for Uni next week
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, dreich, blustery and cold here this morning.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Dessert was HM mince pies - which I made when I got in from work last night. Had a bit of a result - I called into SM on way in to work yesterday morning intending to buy 1 jar of mincemeat as had pastry in the fridge - the jars of a well known brand of mincemeat were 20p each - use by date May 2016 - not damaged in any way so I bagged 5, there were plenty left on the shelf for others too! The mince pies were delicious too and still just warm when we ate them. Tonight will be lamb casserole, mash/pots, and veg.
The hairdresser is coming tonight and I can't wait - my hair is way to long for me to manage and it feels untidy.
Work was steady yesterday and today I'm only working until lunchtime and I'm training for most of that but at the other office and I have an opticians appointment - so will have to be on my toes as I now need to get back from the other office and not just walk round the corner as was my original plan! When I get home I will do all my normal chores etc and get going to get sorted for the weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Fish fed, 1st cuppa of the day made, Dr's appt later.
Mr Noisy woke me a 4:45 as usual, but I turned over and fell asleep straight away until 6:30.
Molly, I hope you are taking it easy.
TTFM, how nasty for you.
BBird, my hubby used Nicorettes, so I can't help with e-cigs, sorry.
Depending on how long I'm at the Dr's I might attempt a charity shop afterwards. I want to stock up on books for the DFGC, I've got a couple of Phillip Pullman but would like an assortment for them as they are both voracious readers, DD uses the library regularly but I think if a book is a particular favourite it's nice to own a copy. I'm particularly looking for ones my own children loved, Tom's Midnight Garden, The Borrowers, Ballet Shoes, etc. I'm trying to stick to books set in the past, as with the DFGC history, I don't want anything that could spark bad memories. My DFGD wants to learn to knit, so I've given her wool & needles and cast on for her, DD will take it from there as I'm left handed and they aren't.
Plans for today include more crochet and 4 extra small meals.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone :j
Oh dear TTFTM, it doesn't sound very good, I really hope you will be able to move on once the dust has settled and find a better job!
My hubbys job is still up in the air. After being told they would definitely be taking him on, now it's a waiting game to see if the big bosses will give their final say-so. :eek:Honestly, I'm in two minds about the whole thing. On the one hand, working has been brilliant for my hubby's self-esteem. He'd got into a right old rut before spending all his day on the computer but now he has a purpose and he really enjoys his work. But on the other hand, and this is a very selfish reason,:o I really miss him, I'm lonely and I'm also worried about falling ill again. I love the Autumn, but Winter is very hard for me as I get severe SAD. On balance, I would prefer him to work I think. Anyway, we'll find out by friday so fingers crossed!
I decided yesterday not to touch DD10's room until she got back from school so we could sort it together. It worked brilliantly. She was very good about getting rid of all her old bits of paper and cardboard and I was reasonable about her keeping bits she uses to play hospitals, old scraps of clothing for bandages etc. After clearing 3 black bags full of rubbish out her room looks amazing. She said she slept really well too so that was a bonus.
Easy tea tonight of sausage, egg and chips so I'm going to have to go to the shop to get some eggs. It's a bit of a pain as I have hurt my knee. It feels like it's slightly out of joint but I'm sure it will get better soon. I'm limping around like a good'un at the moment though :rotfl:
Hope everyone manages to have a good day whatever you are doing. Take care and gentle hugs as always.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning all,
ttftm hope its not too bad today, hugs
BB my dad and my eldest brother and uncle have all given up smoking with e cigarettes, these are hardened smokers who have smoked for 20 plus years:eek: they've worked brilliantly for them.:D
Today we are meeting mum and dad for lunch. The days are flying by. My brother is trying to fit all friends and family in and not miss anyone in two weeks, its been a challenge.
Huge family party on Saturday here so he should see most people then.
We're planning on doing two big pieces of brisket cooked very slowly and served in gravy and onions. Should make delish sandwiches, mmm I also have some cakes to make. Various family members are bringing bits for the table so its not too bad.
I managed to get all my winter clothes out, I've got a lovely thick powder blue duffle coat which fits almost perfectly just a few more pounds so that's a good incentive.
I've also got quite a few bits to sell on eBay so need to get on with that.
Hubby has a day off today so that will be nice.
Ds3 has just gone off to 6th form and dh is cooking bacon. Bye for now xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
