"Our government, a government of the capitalists, is continuing the war in the interests of the capitalists. Like the German capitalists, headed by their crowned brigand Wilhelm, the capitalists of all the other countries are carrying on the war only for a division of capitalist profits, for domination over the world. Hundreds of millions of people, almost all the countries in the world, have been dragged into this criminal war. Hundreds of billions of capital have been invested in “profitable” undertakings, bringing death, hunger, ruin, and barbarism to the peoples and staggering, scandalously high profits to the capitalists. There is only one way to get out of this frightful war and conclude a truly democratic peace not imposed by force, and that is by transferring all the state power to the Soviets of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies. The workers and poor peasants, who are not interested in preserving the profits of the capitalists and robbing the weaker nations, will be able to do effectively what the capitalists only promise, namely, end the war by concluding a lasting peace that will assure liberty to all peoples without exception."

“I think we've been through a period where too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it's the government's job to cope with it. 'I have a problem, I'll get a grant.' 'I'm homeless, the government must house me.' They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There's no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation."

Many people who ridicule Bitcoin do not understand it and fail to see the liberating and empowering aspects of it.
Bitcoin is not just a payment system (although that is all it's used for at the moment). The Bitcoin protocol allows people to do business using digitally signed, verified and time-stamped transactions without the need for third parties.
It is being continually developed and could one day be used for things as diverse as voting and authorising commercial contracts such as property sales.
Bitcoin has not just economic implications but social and political ones as well. So when people talk of Bitcoin as having potential to "change the world for the better" these are the things they mean.
Let's hope they are right.
It's not entirely clear why voting or commercial contracts carried out by bitcoin would make the world a better place.0 -

Well for a start it will mean fewer lawyers, accountants, civil servants and other useless overpaid parasites from interfering and all taking a slice of hefty fees for doing something that can be done without them. The 100s of billions of pounds saved could be used more productively.
Additionally, there are about 5 billion people on earth with either no access to a bank account or they may live in a country that banks or payment processors do not operate in.
Bitcoin opens up the world economy to these people giving them a way of conductiing business and trading with other individuals anywhere in the world.
This is liberating, empowering and leads to innoivation and increased productivity allowing people to connect in a way that has never before been possible.
Call me an idealist but I like these ideals and think the world would be a better place if ordinary people came together and started to reconstruct their world and find their own solutions to their problems. Bitcoin is a step in the right direction toward that goal.0 -
Its just a con game since 1971.
When confidence is lost in currency the con game ends. It is just history repeating. It will happen again sometime over the next several years.
Then you want to be in gold and silver the ultimate safe havens.0 -

Same as any other currency: buy them or earn them0 -

There are plenty of people who support it who do not understand some of the flaws both in protocol and theory. However I find starting posts by suggesting the opposition is uninformed is rarely a good way to change opinions
There is nothing inherently revolutionary about bitcoins. It did a few things right early on like avoiding the entire value being hoarded by a small clique of founded. A lot of people got in early and now have a vested interest in seeing the popularity and use increase.
I'm perfectly happy for bitcoin to exist and for people to use it. I would use it for transactions if beneficial to do so and have considered speculating in it. I do not however think it will ultimately succeed. It is a deflationary currency and thus encourages hoarding, average consumers have no protection when using it and open themselves to considerable market variation risk.
The idea of using it for elections is frankly an irrelevant aside. If you could link individuals with a right to vote to a specific bitcoin wallet then you could link them to a specific email account, social network account or simple username/password.Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Please watch the videos and read the articles on this website, I would love to hear your thoughts on it etc etc.
I've not watched the video, but I can understand and accept the theory that the monetary system is built on debt.
I work....
I get paid in arrears....
The company is in debt to me and each month they clear this debt by say of a salary (cash)
I then go to the supermarket and wish to buy a bunch of banana's.
I use some of my salary (cash) to buy said banana's which goes towards paying the supermarket overheads / employees, farmers, transportation etc who have accumulated debt for the work the have done in advance f being paid.
Pretty simple really and nothing to be scared of.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
